davieG Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 OK there are some games in hand - but 4 points seperating the top 8 1 West Bromwich Albion 35 18 9 8 62 39 23 63 2 Derby County 34 19 6 9 43 34 9 63 3 Birmingham City 33 18 7 8 51 33 18 61 4 Sunderland 35 18 6 11 52 36 16 60 5 Southampton 35 16 11 8 56 39 17 59 6 Cardiff City 35 16 11 8 50 36 14 59 7 Preston North End 34 17 8 9 50 38 12 59 8 Wolverhampton Wanderers 35 17 8 10 38 35 3 59
Tubes Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 sunderland and birmingham me thinks with sunderland breaking free very soon
Simi Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Southampton are slowly making up ground and I think they may rob that 2nd place from Derby. After yesterday I do think that West Brom will be top, some of the depth they have in there squad is quality.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 I was surprised by that myself... thanks to us it's 4 points and not 6... If we'd have taken the game, it'd be only 3 points separating the top 8. How ridiculous would that be?
Brainy Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Last year was boring. Playoffs, relegation and promotion places were all sorted with 3 matches to go.
Guest Gist Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Sunderland could go top next week, they play West Brom

Nath Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 sunderland will be in automatic places at the end of game, probably 2nd.

lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 It would still be 4 wouldn't it as Derby have the same points as WBA? This is what happens when you rely on memory when you post something insightful. I had it in my head that Derby had 61... damn.
Flynny Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 If Stoke win tomorrow they come into contention too, 3 points off the pack. It's all a bit mental. I'd like to see Sunderland and Brom go up, Maybe Brum too. Anyone but Derby.
Brainy Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Preferably a team who are a threat to us next year.. maybe

Glen_lcfc Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Stoke?? Werent Sunderland down in the doldrums with us untill recently? They have picked up very well. Automatic places I think will finish 1.Brom 2.Sunderland With Brum up in Playoffs
Nationwider Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 It's great for the Football League in general. Hopefully it will get plenty of press attention after ManUre deservedly wrap up the Prem. I fancy West Brom and Sunderland to go up, with Preston winning the play-offs. Dunno why though, as any of the top 8 could go up.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Stoke?? I wouldn't mind to see Stoke in the Premiership.
Thracian Posted 26 February 2007 Posted 26 February 2007 I wouldn't mind to see Stoke in the Premiership. Me neither. My middle son and one of my grandsons live in Stoke and we had a shop on Basford Bank until three years ago so I feel connected to the place. I don't think it will happen but the City could do with a lift after the recent shredding or relocation abroad of its traditional manufacturing industries.

I like Stoke because I used to go up there quite often... no particular reason for it. I think I might live there one day. Not too far to commute to Leicester at the weekends, either.

Its just a shame that we arent in the mix! I thought Cardiff were going to win it by a mile but they went on a stinking run and Birmingham then looked to kick clear but have slumped a little. It should make good telly and I`d be shocked if Sky didnt start playing more games from the run-in, hopefully we get to feature in some of them.
lcfc_jme Posted 26 February 2007 Posted 26 February 2007 I`d be shocked if Sky didnt start playing more games from the run-in, hopefully we get to feature in some of them. Well our game against Derby is going to be shown live on Sky, and then we still have to play Birmingham, Preston and Wolves this season, so I'd be suprised if at least one of the games wasn't shown live. I'd say it all depends on our form for the remainder of the season and the way the other 3 teams continue to play, i.e. if they're still in the mix or whether they fall away/everything is decided by the time we come to play them. It is a great season though, should make for a quality run-in at both ends of the table.

Flexx Posted 26 February 2007 Posted 26 February 2007 West Brom 1st Sunderland 2nd Birmingham Playoff winners
