Jordan Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 This shooting isn't just a gun issue, though--every few years or so, there's some brooding loner out there who, for some odd reason, has so much rage towards the world that he explodes on a rampage. Just as the Columbine killers and the guy who opened fire at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec last year, it's an attack that nobody saw coming... but when details of the killers' behavior becomes known, everybody begins to realize that there were warning signs. This guy was also probably on medication for depression but it doesn't appear that his behavior was monitored well. Erratic use of medications used to treat depression/anxiety or if one suddenly stops taking such medication can cause an increase in depression and suicidal thoughts.
Daggers Posted 17 April 2007 Posted 17 April 2007 absolute bollox; the blame for gun crime stops at the hands of the perps ; who is to blame for the( mainly black ) gun crime in the UK ? the UK / EURO politicians? please enlighten me Where do the guns come from - the ****ing gun fairy?
Zingari Posted 18 April 2007 Posted 18 April 2007 Where do the guns come from - the ****ing gun fairy? they very rarely kill people without someone pulling the trigger its usually a drug/drink crazed lunatic and i'm afraid we are stuck with those ; if it was not guns it would be machetes , fire bombs ; mass poisonings ; driving trucks into crowds etc etc , thats why blaming US politicians is bollox, people have "run amok" throughout history ; yes even before the US came into being p.s. bit of advice; Dave Spart in private eye ( just noticed the uncanny resemblance in similar name /location) is meant to be humourous and not taken as serious comment , your assumption that the US politicians are responsible for all the ills of the world seem to be ripped from one of his columns
Leicfox Posted 18 April 2007 Posted 18 April 2007 The interesting question about gun restriction laws such as we have here is not that it prevents gun crime per se - it doesn't as illegal firearms have proliferated and are used in crime . What is does seem to have stopped is the unhinged getting hold of guns lawfully like the Dunblane and Hungerford killers.

And it's piss poor observation seeing as I do not remember blaming the US for the ills of the world. Go debate with some kids - they'll be impressed with your repeated use of the word 'bollox'.

Go debate with some kids - they'll be impressed with your repeated use of the word 'bollox'. ffs lighten up if you read it properly i didn't say you blamed the US ; I said you blamed it all on "US politicians" , who as you said " had blood on their hands" for this and all the other gun crime in the Americas your quote; "The blood of everyone that dies through gun crime in the Americas is stained on the hands of The President, Senators and Congressmen of the USA. " this sounds pretty unequivocal to me perhaps it is you that should continue with the kids in the playground with these comments; because saying bollox however often seems quite grown up compared to this pubescent nonsense p.s. the "advice" re Dave Spart ; was for you to not take it as serious journalism in the future it may have been an "observation" that your post reminded me of his insightful columns
Phube Posted 18 April 2007 Posted 18 April 2007 This would never have happened if all the college kids had guns on themselves!! They would have taken him down far earlier!!! Just another take on it!!!
lookwhaticando Posted 19 April 2007 Author Posted 19 April 2007 He was truly twisted and disturbed. The police said today that he sent a package containing photos, videos and writings to NBC (a top American broadcaster) on the morning of the shootings. He's shown pointing guns at the camera, ranting angrily. He explains that there were several chances to prevent his fatal rampage, which were obviously not taken by the right people etc etc... It's also come to light that he was admitted to a mental institution a couple of years ago. It's still not been confirmed that he was at one of the locations at the time of the killings, strangely enough. Tragic, disturbing stuff.

Ive been watching the news and they have been displaying the video of this nutcase. He truly was an absolute fruitcake. Apparently he shot a few, went back to film some more videos of himself blaming the world and went back to shoot some more. Sad stuff.

Apparently he shot a few, went back to film some more videos of himself blaming the world and went back to shoot some more. Sad stuff. A few of his classmates and professors had raised the alarm about his mental state back in late 2005. Apparently his writings were quite angry and violent and he could get very aggressive in class. The warning signs were there, I guess. One wonders exactly what a nutcase like him actually wanted people to do... he was obviously unstable, probably not the kind of person who can be sat down for a nice little chat and live happily ever after. You have to wonder whether he wouldn't have gone through with it had someone taken one of those millions of chances he spoke of. I mean, don't most people who do awful things like this go around blaming the world and its inhabitants? It's almost cliché to go on a killing spree and blame everyone else for not preventing it.
Milky Posted 19 April 2007 Posted 19 April 2007 Guns don't kill people, rappers do. I saw it on a documentary, on BBC 2.
