Robson & Kidd set for Blades role

Former West Brom boss Bryan Robson and Brian Kidd will be appointed as the new management team of Sheffield United, BBC Five Live understands.

Chairman Terry Robinson said the club had drawn up three shortlists to fill the vacancy left by Neil Warnock.

And while Robinson had played down speculation linking Robson to the post, an announcement is expected on Tuesday.

Kidd joined the Blades as a coach in September and is likely to succeed Stuart McCall as assistant manager.

McCall is expected to take over as Bradford boss, taking over from caretaker David Wetherall, who was appointed following Colin Todd's departure in February this year.

Warnock ended his eight-year reign at the club by mutual consent the day after their relegation from the Premiership.

Robson parted with West Brom by mutual consent in September and has since set up a sports consultancy business that he is reportedly reluctant to leave.

But Sheffield United are keen to install a new manager quickly and Robinson said on Saturday: "The time-frame for appointing is really to get everything sorted out as soon as possible.

"We are doing the groundwork so that he can decide, possibly as early as next week."

If i was Sheff Utd I'd have been very keen to look into the likes of Davies, Coleman or even Newell... young(ish) managers with decenet records who've still go somthing to prove and would have the potential to get a team out of this division and pull off a sustained stay in the top flight... but what on earth recomends Robson to a team thats just been relegated from the prem and is looking to get straight back up!? Still can't say I'm going to complain

I don't think he'll to badly with them. Won't get promoted though.
