BartonFox Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 Shouldn't turn up without tickets and try and gain entry to the ground. Thankfully 96 people didn't pay for it with their lives this time.
Ultra Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 Most fans now realise the Hillsborough disaster was largely due to the ineptitude of the FA, Sheffield Wednesday stewards and South Yorkshire police, NOT the behaviour of Liverpool fans. The same though can't be said about Heysel 85. If only the scousers had shown the same dignity then that they did after the game last night!
The Reverend Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 From what ive read (yes, read, so dont quote me), Liverpool fans who had forged tickets turned up early and got in with their fakes, and the people who were being hit with battons were in fact the people with real tickets?

Thousands tried to gain entry without tickets and therefore take a share of the balme as do the others you mention.

Raj Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Yes but they're not solely to blame. Erm,i think you'll find they are!!! Oh unless they somehow 'found' these so-called forged tickets,by accident!...Just happened to be in their pockets,by mistake of course. Yes they cheeky scousers are so charming eh!!

Letting people in so there wouldn't be trouble outside? What kind of inept decision is that? I feel sorry for those who spent thousands getting to the game, paying for a ticket and not getting in because some idiots can't steward a game properly. The method of checking tickets was a disgrace. The Police did the right thing in the end though, prevented a disaster waiting to happen. Although i suppose it just wouldn't work in seating areas would it.

I think your getting mixed up, C-Man's sentence in the qoute is regarding Hillsborough not what happened in Greece.
Raj Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 I think your getting mixed up, C-Man's sentence in the qoute is regarding Hillsborough not what happened in Greece. Well it wasn't very clear was it? Sorry c-man! However i completey agree with the original quote "Shouldn't turn up without tickets and try and gain entry to the ground. Thankfully 96 people didn't pay for it with their lives this time. "
surrifox Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 couple the usual scouse disregard for fairness and an inability to take "no" for an answer with the endemic incompetence of the Greeks and the mendacity of UEFA and Bob's your uncle - there- 3 in one!
Leicfox Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 However i completey agree with the original quote"Shouldn't turn up without tickets and try and gain entry to the ground. Thankfully 96 people didn't pay for it with their lives this time. " I agree but the organisation was a disgrace, 2 of my mates have just returned one had a ticket the other didn't, but both got in, the one who never had a ticket showed this little leaflet which looked nothing like a ticket, and they let him in, the other with the ticket never had to show it once he just walked in which pissed him off as he paid 250 euros for it. He said it was absolute madness, as the stewards and the police were letting people in without checking tickets left, right and centre. Its a 70,000 Capacity stadium. Each team got 17,000 tickets each. So theres 34,000 out of 70,000 leaving 36,000 tickets.
Raj Posted 25 May 2007 Posted 25 May 2007 Why does it seem that in football the governing bodies dont have a clue? Our FA is a shambles with an average age of 90 and with little (except Trve Brroking) footballing experience. I thought UEFA may be better with a legendary footballer at the helm (Platini) but that Sepp Blatter is a wank. Never mind Italian Football being corrupt,i'll have atenner on UEFA being corrupt too! 17,000 tickets each to teams who play in 40,000+ and 75,000+ stadia. The rest go to the Prawn sandwich brigade! When City get to the Champions League Final we should all boycott it!!!!
