dandannieldanok Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 fook.fook, fook, fook, fook, fook. fook. Wales are hardly brilliant with Giggs anyway so this won't make much difference.
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Wales are hardly brilliant with Giggs anyway so this won't make much difference. I think it will he's the only player they have who is actually world class (except Bellamy, very debateable )

dandannieldanok Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I think it will he's the only player they have who is actually world class (except Bellamy, very debateable ) I agree that he is world-class but because so many of his teammates are so inept he has struggled to make an impact. For instance he played against New Zealand and they only drew.
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 Bellamy is a good player but never in a million years is he 'world class' I wouldn't say so either but I'm sure there are those that would argue.

Finnegan Posted 30 May 2007 Author Posted 30 May 2007 Bellers ain't world class, . Giggs probably shouldn't be considered "world class" at this stage in his career, really. He's still excellent, don't get me wrong, and he'll still be hugely missed but I wouldn't consider him a match winner at high international level. As for who'll replace him, hm. Depends on the context you mean - if you just mean on the left side of midfield then it's almost a blessing in disguise, because it finally gives Joe Ledley his opportunity to play and get his foot in the international door. He'll have Paul Parry competing for a place as well, and there's always the option of putting Koumas on the left. He shouldn't be missed for his set pieces too much, either, again Koumas and also Bale offer plenty of expertise there. But his experience and general quality just can't be replaced around the field, he'll be a huge blow really. Just one less premiership player in our arsenal. I'm still optimistic about the next four to five years of Welsh football, but I do think this is a kick in Tosh's WC2010 qualifying push's nads.

I'm sure that after seeing the form that Scholes has struck after international retirement Fergie will be a lot more optimistic about Giggs for United next season.

Surely as far as 2010 goes, it's better that Giggs steps down now, rather than in two years time? I mean, in the sense that his replacement(s) have plenty of time to step up to the plate and get settled into the side - particularly if those players have little international experience already. Just a thought. Obviously on the other hand, you've lost a quality player... but I reckon that at least this way, there's more than enough time to get the replacement sorted.
Finnegan Posted 30 May 2007 Author Posted 30 May 2007 Given his fitness, I'd rather have Giggs stuck around for the 2010 campaign. 36 is old in football, but not THAT old. Granted his loss of speed has been a blow for Giggs and another two or three years on that won't be doing him any favours, but his skill, leadership and intelligence will still be missed. His effect on the squad in terms of experience and confidence can't be underestimated.
