Phil Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 just found this on out message board: James Scowcroft is keen on a summer return to Town. The 29-year-old's Leicester City contract is up at the end of the season and the ex-England U21 international will be available on a Bosman free transfer. Scowcroft, who will back back at Portman Road with Leicester on Saturday, joined the Foxes from Town in the summer of 2001 for a fee of £3.5 million after making 248 appearances for the Blues and scoring 55 goals. He made his Town debut against Wolves in 1995 after progressing through the youth ranks. Leicester, in mid-table and outsiders for promotion, look all but certain to lose the frontman at the end of the season and we understand that a return to Portman Road would be Scowcroft's favoured move, although Town being promoted back to the Premiership may be a factor in any potential deal. Boss Joe Royle has long been a fan of Scowcroft, having made an enquiry about him during his time as Manchester City manager. Royle asked about his availability again last summer but at the time Town's finances made signing him impossible. Fans are likely to welcome Scowcroft's return, many having been unhappy that he was allowed to leave after helping George Burley's side to promotion and then into Europe.
foxesfan69 Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 Wouldn't mind that at all. When you want him then?
Simon Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 They could take him now for a few hundred thou and we could get a player or two
Steven Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 If he is not setting the world on fire, then please leave.
Anish Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 I'm not too optimistic that he will leave before his contract ends in the summer - Ipswich don't really need him at the moment and Scowy isn't exactly going to want to leave his current wages to go elswhere. After that, I couldn't give a crap where the waster goes.
Wellman Posted 8 February 2005 Posted 8 February 2005 Take him now!! Please, he's been excellent this season 'Phil'
