dandannieldanok Posted 28 June 2007 Share Posted 28 June 2007 Pinched from http://www.footballgroundguide.co.uk/ Richard Wells Age: 36 Team Supported: Leicester City First League Ground Visited & When: Filbert Street in 1979 Last Ground Visited to complete the 92: Gigg Lane, Bury. Date Completed: 1994 Best Ground visited (& why). Difficult to say. In terms of facilities, comfort and view, I suggest the Amsterdam Arena. But for being the sort of traditional ground that I prefer then Ayresome Park Middlesbrough prior to its demolition. Prettiest has to be Glebe Park Brechin City. There are too many “best†grounds. Poorest Ground Visited: Kenilworth Road, Luton. The seats in the away end are tiny, fantastically uncomfortable and have zero legroom. The guy in front of me “burst†through his and spent the game practically sat on my knee! Best experience on your travels: Turning up at Elm Park, Reading having driven for 2.5 hours to find it an all ticket sell out. A brilliant Steward just unlocked an exit gate to a terrace and shoved us in for free. No wonder we miss the flexibility of terraces. Worst experience on your travels: Having to barricade ourselves into a sweet shop in Cleethorpes whilst walking to a Grimsby versus Leicester match to escape a mob looking for our blood. The poor old shopkeeper was frightened and we were worse. The only time we’ve ever had our own personal Police escort to a football match. Left twenty minutes before the end, as an ambush was feeling very likely! Funniest experience on your travels: Whilst driving away from a very hostile away match at Millwall with my car full of Leicester supporters, we spotted a friend of ours sheepishly walking along the Old Kent Road looking scared. He looked even worse when we started pointing at him and shouting who he was. It was very irresponsible, but feeling safe in our car, we thought it was hilarious. I used to play tennis with him every Sunday but neither he nor his girlfriend would speak to me for 2 years afterwards. An incident with a busload of Halifax rugby league fans is too long to go into! Most Goals Seen In One Match: I played for a school team in France and we felt thoroughly smug about winning 9-0. Obviously those French have made a bit of ground up on us since! Best Match Witnessed: Leicester City 5 Shrewsbury Town 2, 5th round FA Cup tie, 1982. Legendary amongst Leicester fans. Best Goal Seen: Stevie Claridge shinning one in to win the Division One play-off final in the final minute. Stupidest Chant Heard: “You Dirty Northern B*****ds†sung by most London teams visiting Filbert Street. Geography of course dictates we’re in the Midlands! dandannieldanok Posted 28 June 2007 Author Share Posted 28 June 2007 Peter Holdridge Name: Peter Holdridge Age: 37 Teams Supported: Leicester City & Darlington First League Ground Visited & When: Filbert Street, 12th November 1980. Leicester lost 1-0 to Everton. Last Ground Visited to complete the 92: JJB Stadium, Wigan Athletic, (Result: Wigan 1 Cambridge 1). Date Completed: 30th August 1999 Peter Outside The KC Stadium, Hull: How long has it taken you to visit all 92 grounds? 19 years in total, but most since 1994. Best Ground visited (& why). Highbury. Great atmosphere and a ground that isn't boringly symmetrical. Poorest Ground Visited: The Dell. The away supporters section is terrible (it's probably better for home supporters!). Best experience on your travels: Seeing York City beat Manchester Utd 3-0 at Old Trafford. Paul Barnes (who comes from the same village as me) scored two goals. Worst experience on your travels: Driving into the back of a lorry on the way back from Layer Road, Colchester. Funniest experience on your travels: Tranmere refusing to sell me a roll and onions without a burger (I am vegetarian). Most Goals Seen In One Match: Eight, Tottenham 5 Southampton 3. Best Match Witnessed: Shrewsbury 2 Northampton 3, when Northampton needed to win to stay in the Football League and came back from 2-0 down. Best Goal Seen: Stan Collymore on his debut for Liverpool against Sheffield Wednesday. Best Player Watched: Alan Shearer scoring a hat-trick for Blackburn Rovers against Nottingham Forest. Stupidest Chant Heard: "You're supposed to pay the bill" by Wimbledon fans when the floodlights went off at Pride Park, Derby. Any tips for those intending to visit the 92? Look for kick-offs at odd times (particularly on bank holidays) and try to get to two games in one day. This helps cut down on the travelling! Another LCFC fan on there. Date Completed: 29th April 1983 How long has it taken you to visit all 92 grounds? 22 years in total. Best Ground visited (& why). Goodison Park at the time first ground with escaltor to your seat. Poorest Ground Visited: Baseball Ground, looked better when demolished!!! Best experience on your travels: Visting three grounds on the same day: Leicester City v Chelsea in the morning. Wigan Athletic v Huddersfield Town in the afternoon and Halifax Town v Torquay United in the evening Worst experience on your travels: Blowing an engine on the M6 on the way to Wrexham. Funniest experience on your travels: Watchng Neil Lewis run off the pitch at The New Den thinking he had been sent off only to re-appear 10 minutes later. Most Goals Seen In One Match: Nine: Leicester City 7 Arsenal 2 Best Match Witnessed: Leicester City 5 Shrewsbury 2 FA Cup Tie, three goalkeepers (Mark Wallington, Steve Lynex & Alan Young), from behind twice, against a lower league team. Best Goal Seen: Keith Weller FA Cup v Luton Town Best Player Watched: Keith Weller. pure genius.
