jambo Posted 13 February 2005 Posted 13 February 2005 hi foxes fans just thought i would share some insight to MDV. i have been a hearts supporter for 20 years i have seen many great players come and go from tynecastle MDV unfortunately the big man isnt one of my greats. what r u getting from MDV well firstly my first viewing of the big man was against our rivals hibs who at the time were pretty poor but the big man banged 4 past them great world beater was the chants, no sorry good player yes, world beater no. the big man picks up stupid injurys takes a ages to get fit scores to few goals he is a target man lets others do the scoring. before he left for the foxes he scored 3 goals for us in 6 months our midfielder paul hartley scored 14. the trouble is alot of fans wanted levien as manager he done well for us but at the time john robertson was who we really wanted now we have him i wish CL all the best but the guy is a yes man to negative tries to keep it tight at the back but cant motivate the team when they go behind. here is my assesment of the players you have signed MARK DE VREIS good target man injury prone does not want to no if you are behind <_< STEPHEN HUGHS strange signing not good enough for rangers might do you a turn best watched maybe 1 for the future <_< ALAN MAYBURY great player but to easy upset liability if wound up will let you down when you really need him if he would calm down could be a legend PATRICK KISNORBO this guy will be a legend great engine top player will be sadly missed from tynecastle good luck paddy well bye hope i wasnt to harsh hope you start getting the results to big a club to be were you are JAMBO FOREVER

foxesfan69 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 Got a good first touch on him for a big man, would love to say he could become a City legend but not seen enough of him yet...
Wellman Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 He wasn't too good against Ipswich on staurday but knowbody was really to be honest! He'll play a big part now that Scowy's gone, so we'll see
Scow Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 He's not all that in the air, but does have a great first touch and uses his strength well to push past defenders.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I'll judge him after he's started a few more games. He's only just reaching his full fitness now and Ipswich was his first start. I didn't go to Ipswich so I cant say how well he played but against Blackpool at home, Gillingham at home and Crewe at home he played cameo roles and showed that he could hold the ball up well and distracted Crewe's defenders for Gillespie to score. Down at Reading he showed that he's got a bit of pace too when he ran from just inside the Reading half, took it round a couple of defenders and eventually rounded the keeper but didn't quite have the clinical edge to finish. I put that down to not being as sharp as he would like and also Marcus Hahnemann was in good form and is obviously one of their better performers.
Teeno Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 I don't really rate him at the minute, maybe he still isn't 100% but before saturday we'd only seens snippets of him, he looked a bit of a donkey to be fair. But I think he needs time and he could possibly be a big player for us, but I think we would of been better to go for a more out and out goal scorer.

In the past couple of seasons he's been averaging a goal every two games, which is pretty good IMO.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 14 February 2005 Posted 14 February 2005 Levein said that his Hearts team would walk away with this division so if he'd been averaging a goal every two games there you'd expect him to be able to have a similar ratio next season for us. I suppose it depends on the supply he gets too.
Nathan_Ellington_WAFC Posted 15 February 2005 Posted 15 February 2005 listen to the hearts fan he knows best

Guest Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 I think De Vries main problem is he gets the ball with his back to goal, but he can't do anything with it because his strike partner is too concerned with playing out on the wing, or in the corners.
MADLEVEIN Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 devries on saturday looked pants but at charlton he caused them all sorts of problems and took loads of pressure off our defenders holding the ball up for hughes and tiatto. its a hard one to call, he aint no goalscoring machine but its a team game and if we rely on our strikers to score all the goals we will be in the shit.

Hope he will be good but cant see it myself

Ash Posted 7 March 2005 Posted 7 March 2005 What i've saw of him so far hasn't impressed me yet , but i'll give him another 10-15 games before i judge him fully !
Ric Flair Posted 8 March 2005 Posted 8 March 2005 Well considering everyone was getting all excited about MDV about a month ago against Reading, you've soon changed your tune? I think De Vries will score tonight, he looks like all he needs is a goal. He has looked dangerous when i've seen him, he's just off form like most of our players are. Reserve judgement on the lad and give him a chance, treat him like a barrel of grolsch then you won't be disappointed.
