demon_dog Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 See England are due to play Russia on a plastic pitch on Oct 17th. Does this mean we will play with a bit more enthusiasm, passion, commitment. At least we should not see any balls bounce around the keeper, having hit a lump of turf. What possible excuse could McLaren have if we lose.
demon_dog Posted 11 July 2007 Author Posted 11 July 2007 For the love of God.... Why? Why did we lose or why on a plastic pitch.
samingram_uk Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Why did we lose or why on a plastic pitch. both... but the plastic pitch reasoning will do
demon_dog Posted 11 July 2007 Author Posted 11 July 2007 both... but the plastic pitch reasoning will do The match is due to be played at the Luzhniki Olypic Stadium which currently has a plastic pitch. It's highly unlikely that it will be turfed before the England game. (99.9% certainty) However it is due to be replaced with turf for the Champions League final which is due to take place there next year.
Brainy Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 What a joke. However if we fail to take maximum points, the pitch will be the excuse. We go to Russia with a job to do. If it means doing the job on a plastic football pitch, then so be it.
Simi Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Considering this is such a big match for us, I'm surprised this decsion has been taken, although I don't think it is final yet.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 I can't really see what the big deal is, we are talking about professional of the highest level the should be able to cope with the plastic turf we used to have one at school and it dosen't make much difference, as for russia having an unfair advantage, don't most of them play club football on grass pitches?

Shouldn't the same Pro Footballers be able to beat teams like Macedonia ?

Blue Bob Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 England lose, McClaren sacked and claims he was shafted by the green plastic.
Simi Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 Haha good point Garry O'Connor commented about the pitch on SSN earlier and said, it will take a lot of getting used to and the pitch is prone to be very bobbly. Hopefully we will be able to train on the pitch prior to the game.
Ashley Posted 12 July 2007 Posted 12 July 2007 England Players should be used to the artifical pitch most of the prem clubs and championship clubs have training domes which have artitical pitches. Carnt see what people are complaining about
