Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 This was the XI we started the season with; Henderson, Stearman, Johansson, Kenton, McCarthy, Maybury, Johnson, Williams, Tiatto, Fryatt, Hume.
scrivins2 Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 I think things are starting to look up compared to last years poor season, it's no manu arsenal or chelsea but we're getting there. The free transfers are pretty good gets, hopefully we will start to buy some quality and talent starting with clemence What do we think of clemence?
Lillehamring Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 no kisnorbo??Low -> Kaaebi, haha EXACTLY!!! - such a massive gulf in class from the donkeys of 06! this was just off the top of my head, but it goes to show that things have changed so much for the better MA & MM
Cheese Me Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Looks a great side, plus much more strength in depth. Big change also is Kelly > Allen Who is Campbell who you've got up front with Hume?
Lillehamring Posted 13 July 2007 Author Posted 13 July 2007 um, i took a liberty on that - DJ Campbell - seems to be a done deal?
Zingari Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 who do you think would win the prestigious " Barbecue Set Trophy" ( sponsored by mars)
Cheese Me Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 um, i took a liberty on that - DJ Campbell - seems to be a done deal? Of course, me being dumb. So used to seeing him referred to as DJ it didn't click for a minute
Sods Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 to be fair i got exicited when josh low came, noing what he could do at northampton when he was fit. Egg on face

Yea I can just see it now, de vries and campbell...

Flynny Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Kelly > Allen Out of context quotes are excellent. um, i took a liberty on that - DJ Campbell - seems to be a done deal? Looks like we might be battling Charlton for him now.
Geo V Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Last seasons squad reminded me of the bad old days with David Pleat and players like Tony Spearing but this season is a different feeling altogether and we now have a squad that can compete at this level and with a strong looking first team it seems that we will have a great mixture of youngsters and under-performers waiting in the wings to come on and impress. Many think Fryatt, Levi, Stearman and co will have good seasons and the chances are players like this wont be starting the new season in the first 11. All is looking rosey in the blue flowered garden of Leicester
sdb Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 bit worrying that 5 of the old team are still here. even if they are all transfer listed!!
Blue Bob Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 bit worrying that 5 of the old team are still here. even if they are all transfer listed!! It would be nice to see the back of Douglas, Hughes and Maybury but I think we will need to pay them off and cancel their contracts before they are prepared to sign for another club.

Pete_foxes Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 When we look at a comparison like that it definatly shows us that there is an improvment in the type of players we are bringing in. I feel the club has a definate direction that it is going in now. The direction is up. Under Kelly I felt that we were abit lost, the club was experiencing a mini-crisis & we survived by the skin of our teeth, probably thanks to Worthington doing the best with what he had & organising the team. We would of undoubetdly been relegated with Kelly at the helm. Martin Allen & Milan appear to have the club moving in the right direction which is all we can ask for at this early stage. So yes I think we have many reasons to be cheerful. BRING ON BLACKPOOL!
Brainy Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Don't know whether this has been mentioned in the thread, but you've just put the worst players in the squad we had last year. Hume was our main striker, de Vries was away on loan, Horsfield was here for 1/3 of the season. You make it look like a HUGE improvement on last year, as a few players you've put in the 'new look' squad played a big part last season.

The rest played regular football last season.
