Brainy Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 i was emphasising the sort of calibre Well if thats the case - fair enough
Bluefoxtim Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 The team has been improved quite a bit but we need at least another 3 QUALITY/proper signings. Very unrelated but... excellent stuff!

Ultra Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 RM: LOW CM: HUGHES CM: JOHNSON LM: TIATTO Just looking at that midfield has made me appreciate Milan even more! Yeah I don't think any of them would have made a Champions League winning squad...
act smiley Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 Out of context quotes are excellent. They are indeed! "Funny little things turn me on" - Martin Allen.
MBK Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 The major difference is the player preparation. I'm 100% sure MA would have got the old squad up to 10th or higher, just see Plymouth.
Mr Happy Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 The major difference is the player preparation. I'm 100% sure MA would have got the old squad up to 10th or higher, just see Plymouth. Seems to be the case after all Kenton, Maybury, Hammond, Hughes, Douglas and De Vries - all transfer listed players that, with the exception of MDV, were here last season... and then weren't here in the sense that footballing wise they just weren't up to the task of playing with passion or purpose for our beloved club. Generally they were misguided, which is why Worthington dropped most from the squad when he briefly took over the reins. Fast forward to todays games and all of these players were playing in Lcfc shirts again and on the whole receiving generous support from our fans. Allen has grabbed the attention of these 'lost' players and given them a new purpose to their footballing careers. He's made them want to play again, so it seems. Word is, behind the scenes the staff seem better prepared than last season and the manager thus far isn't doing anything, IMO, wrong. This season is shaping up as the best since adams took us up to the premiership, everything being put in place chess peices being arranged on hte board for the assult upon the opposition and with the exception of Douglas, Hughes(who seems to be off up scotland) and possibly Hammond; I wouldn't mind seeing these players stay with us as long as they keep up the good work and give us what they didn't last season - Passion. Also the youth squads keep producing talented players, Mattock and chambers for starters last season, some of which featured in the oadby and quorn games apparantly so things are looking bright for the future there. Then theres the signings we're made so far. Now I believe they are actually quite decent signings, yes they certainly ain't no Shevchenko or Ronaldo hell not even an Earnshaw or Nugent, but I believe they will get us promoted (which lets face it after so many years of championship wilderness its what we really want) through the play-offs quite possibly. And lastly not forgeting the fact we off'd McCarthy to charlton for £650K then as a replacement signed N'gotty So I think thats plenty of reasons to be cheerful this season with hopefully even more reasons to be cheerful next season
