Here's the place to go - anyone got one?

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 8,815,895 Residents from around the globe.

* From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

* You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow Residents. Because Residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other Residents.

* The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges.

Welcome to Second Life. We look forward to seeing you in-world.

I saw this on the news about 2 years ago I think it was and like an idiot registered but havent been back since. I was tempted by the fact that people actually make real money within the game somehow and thought i could rip some desperate lowlifes off lol

You get some weird names though. Fudge knows what mine is.

A handful of people have actually become millionaires through this, I believe mainly from buying and selling virtual property.

However I assume it's mainly inhabited by lonely geeks who derive more pleasure out of their second life than they do of their first.

The scary think about the site that came across from the news report was that it encourages people to "be someone totally different". Some Gothic bird in her teens was interviewed and on the site she is some doctor dude or something! Im sure that some idiotic geeky dudes think they have pulled what seemingly is a nice looking woman but its probably some redneck bloke from texas.

That reminds me of past weekends of alcoholic oblivion. Ahhh, happy days.

Second Life? No, thank you. We can start discussing that once I'm lying on my deathbed and we're talking reincarnation.

My life as it is is by far more interesting.

With a splash of Brut and the right pub fella those heady days could return!
