Flynny Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Are Leicester in the Prem? Aye, went up season before this (I finished 12). At current they've got one game left and unless they win it they're back down.
LeeCovFox Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Match or in-game?In game: Start with a team with a big stadium, buy young, improve, sell on, buy better. Match: I was playing 4-3-1-2 mostly in my first few seasons as far as I remember, certainly in League One and Two. In the championship I pushed my central midfielder back and now played a 4-4-2 diamond, pretty much, in both Championship seasons. Or "4-1-2-1", apparantly. I haven't managed to get a 4-3-1-2 working on fm08 yet. Had a bit of success with Hinckley, but generally just plod around with small clubs trying to make them finacially viable in Conference North/South. Your team/player instructions anything special?

Not really, actually. The scouting system is great though, nice picking up mediocre players knowing they'll get quite a bit better.
Flynny Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Ay-up... nothing changes eh... They won! I didn't even intervene! Even better it knocked Derby (who went up a season or two before, dunno which) into 18th!
potter3 Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Do you all change yur tactics from game to game, or just keep them as they are. I keep them the same, they're all about the middle of the bar, except for hard tackling. Just beat West Ham 4-3, was 3-0 up after 40 mins, and they missed a penalty, before I scored in the last minute 9 points clear unless Arsenal win their game in hand.
FilboFox Posted 10 February 2008 Author Posted 10 February 2008 They won! I didn't even intervene!Even better it knocked Derby (who went up a season or two before, dunno which) into 18th! BRILL! Don't you just love games like that... you aren't the manager but your heart is totally into it and its almost like you lost if they do. Happens all the time when I'm not Leicester manager... then I always think... shit... what am I doing at this club and then start again with Leicester!
FilboFox Posted 10 February 2008 Author Posted 10 February 2008 I am currently at Leicester... have only just started but already having a GREAT season in the Championship... off to play now and see if I can get them up and do well...

Happens all the time when I'm not Leicester manager... then I always think... shit... what am I doing at this club and then start again with Leicester! Yeah it was smashing. Do you all change yur tactics from game to game, or just keep them as they are. I keep them the same, they're all about the middle of the bar, except for hard tackling. I only tweak them for hard games and cup games. Telling your defenders to stay tight on strikers seems to work well against strongish teams but make no odds otherwise. Against strong cup opposition I'll take width and mentality right down as well.
potter3 Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 You should do but I doubt it will cover the 30 million you've lost. I usually play with non-league sides so I only really have experience sorting their finances out. It may be that you have spent too much on transfers. You should be able to look at a table of expenditure and one of income. They should tell you where any extra money is going. If I sold a player now for a few million, would it improve the balance right now? Going to go into debt in a week probably And the board are already unhappy <_<
Flynny Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 If I sold a player now for a few million, would it improve the balance. Going to go into debt in a week probably Print screen your expenditure breakdown, would you?
potter3 Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Even if they were ungrateful enough to sack me, Arsenal supposedly want me when their managers contract run out Print screen your expenditure breakdown, would you?
FilboFox Posted 11 February 2008 Author Posted 11 February 2008 Even if they were ungrateful enough to sack me, Arsenal supposedly want me when their managers contract run out Wages and the amount of money you spend on players really don't help the situation do they...
potter3 Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Wages and the amount of money you spend on players really don't help the situation do they... If you've got it spend it
FilboFox Posted 11 February 2008 Author Posted 11 February 2008 If you've got it spend it And then you wonder why you end up having such massive expenditure at the end of each season! lol
potter3 Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 And then you wonder why you end up having such massive expenditure at the end of each season! I'm well within my budget though...and a 13 unbeaten run ends against Newcastle
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 What a dream ay. A Leicester team that has had £53 million pounds worth of investment.
potter3 Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Thhat's nothing, I've spent 130 million over about 4 1/2 years Maybe that's catching up with me now It's only the past two seasons where I've spent big, before that I had to budget carefully
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 February 2008 Posted 11 February 2008 Thhat's nothing, I've spent 130 million over about 4 1/2 years Maybe that's catching up with me now It's only the past two seasons where I've spent big, before that I had to budget carefully No!!
