"These results demonstrate we really don't need any outside investment," managing director Keith Edelman told BBC Radio 5live. "We secured all the players we wanted in the summer and manager Arsene Wenger did not spend his budget." The Gunners have been subject to takeover rumours after Alisher Usmanov increased his share in the club to 21%. The Uzbek businessman's company, Red and White, is chaired by former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, who claims foreign investment is needed to compete with the likes of Chelsea. Link on beeb
Koke Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 The fact that Wenger was able to compete at the top level with a very limited budget ever since he arrived a decade ago is truly amazing. For instance, buying Nicolas Anelka for £500.000 and then sell him to Madrid two seasons later for £23 million is masterclass. Genius at work.

But when you think about it, Arsenal spend very little on players compared to these two. Wenger certainly knows how to find a bargain. And when they're raking in £3m a game.....

Not really through the way everything is structured. Arsenal are not in debt but have a separate company that owns the stadium and leases it to Arsenal football club. Equally, they have another company developing the former highbury stadium into appartments (rather than just sell the plot to a builder) so they are equally making a tidy sum on that. 711 appartments being built at Higbury. If you work on the basis of a flat in Islington being worth somewhere in the region of £250,000-350,000, that's a revenue of between £177million and £248 million. I've always been told a builder works on a 30% margin for a new build so minimum profit, I would estimate, would be somewhere in the region of £53 million. Arsenal is actually a very well run club

He made millions on players like Petit, Anelka, Henry, Vieira and continues to sign these young kids for next to nothing and some look like they will become superkids. He hasn't done want Fergie did and splash the cash on multi-million pound signings like Carrick, Ferdinand, Rooney, Hargreaves, Tevez and the rest and even didnt spend this seasons budget. All that and he manages to play great football. Lets see if we get a repeat of last season where everyone raved about them and they won fudge all
