I'm sure most of you listened to the post-match interviews from last night's game. The man came out and held his hands up and admitted how crap he was, no ifs no buts. During the interview the journalist almost felt sorry for Curtis, telling him that he's a good player and all.

Its really refreshing to hear a player come out and be self-critical and admit how shite they were. And I respect him a lot more now, unlike other prima donnas in the game who think they are above criticism.

I think his price tag may have put a lot of pressure on the lad but either way hats off to him. :worship:

it isnt players being dishonest that gets me, its managers. Every week its 'i didnt see it' or 'i didnt have a clear view of the incident'. Step forward STUART PEARCE. I admired him for coming out and talking about bernado corradis infamous red card for diving, aswell as other incidents i cant remember right now. Fair play to davies too, good player and seems to have a good attitude, he'll go far...

Curtis Davies pulled no punches in a brutally honest assessment of his senior Villa debut, conceding: "If I'm not honest with myself, I'll never improve as a player."

The on-loan defender was extremely self critical after the 1-0 Carling Cup defeat against Leicester City and insisted his lack of recent match action was no excuse.

Davies partnered Zat Knight in central defence and felt Villa fans did not see him at his best on a collectively frustrating night at Villa Park.

He reflected: "It was my debut and I was awful. I didn't contribute anything to the team. I've been bigging myself up saying I was ready and obviously by last night's performance, I'm not good enough to get in the team yet.

"I don't know what it was. I feel fit, I feel fine, so I'm not using any excuses like that. It was just on the day I choked.

"I wasn't nervous before the game and I wasn't nervous out there, it's just I didn't do anything right. It just seemed like it was going to be one of them nights.

"Obviously when you come off losing it's highlighted, whereas if you win the game you can sort of get away with it.

"But I know my personal performance was probably my worst ever. That's how I feel right now. The team I play in is a good team and the performance wasn't up to the standard of this team."

Davies, who has not played a competitive game since March, added: "In training I've been doing well with everything. But last night I think my passing completion was about five per cent. It wasn't the best performance to start my Villa career.

"I hope I will feature eventually, it's just last night was my chance to go out there and show exactly what I've got. I showed exactly what I've not got. I did nothing right, so come Monday if I'm on the bench or even in the stands, I'll accept it.

"I've been saying I want to push the players in the first-team to take their place and the way I was last night, I wouldn't have pushed the youth team lads. I'm honest with myself in every performance and that was unacceptable.

"I set my standards high. Playing against Leicester City I thought it would be a good game to come back into. For me it was nothing to do with my fitness. I'm not using any excuses at all. It just wasn't my day.

"You can't pull the wool over people's eyes when you have a bad performance. If you're not true to yourself, you're not going to improve. If I don't come out and say how poorly I've done, I'm not going to push on and do any better."

Neat trick by CD there... play like an absolute tosser so West Brom can no longer demand the silly money they're demanding.

The dream move to Villa is almost complete! :D :D :D

I said something similar on another thread. Its all MONs work this lol

How West Brom can demand £8m-£10m for him is beyond me.

Blag it. Its like anything in life you always want more.

You have to pay way over the odds for young, Enlish talent these days :dunno:

And the fact that he is actually good player doesn't help

Well he was pretty shit to be fair.

Agreed, i think dj beat him in the air once. :D

And Matty Fryatt beat him for pace! :o:)

No wonder he has serious confidence issues, which may take even MON some time to sort out..

he said he played "like a pub team player" ! presumably playing poorly against LCFC is now the gold standard against which crapness is measured

Indeed! That did spring to mind.

Defender endures WORST game of his career as Leicester City complete smash and grab victory, registering one shot on goal!

Hahaha!
