davieG Posted 28 February 2005 Posted 28 February 2005 Dawson? erm, no thanks.Gemmil please. 71933 **** off. It embarasses me that Dawson gets over-shadowed by Gemmill. He's what makes this country shit. 72358 That's rather a hefty piece of blame to put on one person, who having been offered a job and presumably performed it to the satisfaction of his employer sufficiently (do you know what he does off the field of play) to be offered a contract extension to then be cited as the cause of what makes this Country shit. To make that kind of statement you must be either God, the King, the Prime Minister or what? I'd be interested to know so that we can address you accordingly as in: The Almighty Hoof Your Royal Highness Hoof The Right Honourable Hoof ;)

My statement might sound harsh and it is. I was half joking, but after abit of thought I am not far wrong. He's very old, still commanding a wage that will be alot more than any of us on this forum will ever earn in a year and he doesn't do anything. Football is a lucrative business and players earn vast amounts of money, which can be argued either way whether they deserve it or not. Players who play badly, rarely play and prevent younger players breaking through certainly don't deserve the money they get paid, he's a typical journeymen and although he hasn't ever done anything to offend me i'm sick and tired of footballers like Gemmill being paid to not do alot. He should be on the grill at half-time at the ground, atleast he is putting something back in to the community.

breadandcheese Posted 28 February 2005 Posted 28 February 2005 I'm going to stick-up for Gemmill. I think he is doing a decent job for us. He is not on a big wage - Fact Levein sees him as there to fill-in during an injury crisis - Fact He does a decent job when he comes into the team (i.e. not a Ronaldinho, but by no means a Junior Lewis) - Fact Dawson is not ready yet (especially for the Forest game) - Fact He can help train the younger players - Fact All in all, he does a decent job for us, coming into the team when we have injuries, playing a holding role. He is by no way a first-team choice, but can come in to fill the gaps. Levein has said Dawson is not ready yet and I believe him, particularly for a game like Forest. Therefore, I am glad we have Gemmill, and if he can help train some of the youngsters, so much the better.

TrickyTrev Posted 1 March 2005 Posted 1 March 2005 I don't like the player at all but we need him as he is the only holding midfield player that we have.
