Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 I cant stand celebrity poker. All these muppets who cant play the game but somehow get on TV because they were famous once in there lifetime. I watched one a while back with Gladstone Small (he still has no neck) and Paul Daniels FFS. It was suicide TV at its finest.

Geo V Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 When I went to Florida last year they had professional dominoes on the sports channel in a bar. I love watching that show on Bravo I think it is called "Ultimate Gambler" when some dude goes around the world trying to win money and seeing all these weird sports from abroad and betting on it. There are some fudged up sports out there but with Poker, it is such a fine line between the best in the world and a good amateur and you can actually end up sitting on the same table as one of the best players in the world and knock him out with some luck and good card play. You don't get that in football or any other sport that I can think of unless you win some comp and come off the bench for 10 seconds in a pre-season friendly that is
Nationwider Posted 3 October 2007 Posted 3 October 2007 To be fair, Victoria Coren is fairly successful, although at the same time not strictly a celebrity.
Rincewind Posted 4 October 2007 Author Posted 4 October 2007 There are a few quite good 'celebrity' players. They genuarally are ex snooker, darts or footballers. They have the money and the time to learn. There are also some that are complete rubbish but they are the ones the producers of the shows drag out for their first game of poker. The programmes they show are for entertaining the viewer so there is plenty of dodgy play The better players are more noticeable though and don't muck about so much.
