walshiesgirl1968 Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 I live in Worthing and my friend I'm going with lives in Leatherhead so we're driving up as I won't go on the tube. Any idea where would be a good place to park as I've been told it's a bit of a nightmare around the ground?

Try looking around Olympia otherwise NCP car parks in the area-this one is 1/2 a mile from the ground but £5.50 for 2 hours http://www.ncp.co.uk/multimapForm.aspx?poi...dd71ae24baee767 stick SW6 1HS in the postcode box

multipack Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 hi there just responding to your post about parking. i live in west kensington and next to barons ct tube station/queens tennis club. There are streets that are free to park after 5pm there. I have seen Chelsea fans park on match days and its a good area and its a 20 min walk to stamford bridge. lots of pubs on the way. Iain if u look for queens club, north of stamford bidge. the parking there is free after 5pm parking for chelsea I live in Worthing and my friend I'm going with lives in Leatherhead so we're driving up as I won't go on the tube. Any idea where would be a good place to park as I've been told it's a bit of a nightmare around the ground?
walshiesgirl1968 Posted 15 October 2007 Author Posted 15 October 2007 Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I don't know JME Lawrence I'm afraid!

Any idea where would be a good place to park as I've been told it's a bit of a nightmare around the ground? Leave the M25 at Junction 15 and take the M4 towards London, which then becomes the A4 up to Hammersmith. Carry on over the Hammersmith flyover and after a further one and half miles, take the turning Earls Court. Continue past Earls Court station and down the one way system until you reach the junction with Fulham Road. At this junction, turn right at the traffic lights and after about half a mile, you will see the ground on your right. A number of local resident schemes are in operation around the ground, so you may well end up having to park some way from the ground itself. Thanks to Andy Harris for providing the directions. For a map showing the location of Stamford Bridge Click Here (to take you to the Street Map website). To go to a simplified page, containing the directions and pub info, which you can print out Click Here Have we got an official pub yet? The pubs near the ground can be quite partisan, so I would recommend getting a drink somewhere on the journey there. Gordon a visiting Newcastle fan adds 'there are quite a few pubs on the Kings Road that are okay as long as you don't break into a chorus about your team!'. Ross Mooring adds; The best (well, least partisan) pub for away fans is the Slug and Lettuce outside Fulham Broadway train station situated a few minutes walk from the ground. It's an upmarket pub with a good security and police presence outside on matchdays. Very full but rarely any trouble. Away fans though should avoid the Sofa Bar. Alcohol (Budweiser) is available inside the ground but it is a bit pricey, even for Londoners!'. About a ten minute walk away from the ground near Parsons Green Tube Station is the White Horse. A large comfortable pub which sells good food and a range of real ales including Harveys Ales from Sussex. To find this pub with the new West Stand behind you turn right (up past where the away coaches are parked) up Fulham Road and into Fulham Broadway, passing the tube station on your right. Continue to follow Fulham Road around to the left and then take a left hand turn into Parsons Green Road. Go under the bridge passing Parsons Tube Station on your right and you will reach the White Horse pub on your left. For every ground you like to know. Click here.
Monk Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 Hi - you can get a train from Leatherhead to Wimbledon, shouldnt take long, then get the district line from there. South West Trains run pretty late. I live just outside wimbledon and loads of the trains go to Leatherhead. Surely got to be better than driving into Central London?

Don't even think about going down Earls ct road, it will be at a standstill due to the game and city bringing 40 odd coaches and its all resident parking till 8pm. There be pubs allocated away pubs by fulham police closer to the date of the game.
Monk Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 just re read the bit about not going on the tube. to be honest - I'd just do it. Millions of us use the bloody thing every day but if you insist on no tube (district line is hardly the tube as most is overground) then you can get the train to west bromton outside the ground. I think from leatherhead you may have to change at clapham. check it out on national rail

Master Fox Posted 15 October 2007 Posted 15 October 2007 There be pubs allocated away pubs by fulham police closer to the date of the game. That would make sense. We definitely need somewhere where all the fans can congregate and enjoy a few beers before the game. With our sheer numbers we’re bound to fill the odd pub or two! Seriously, you won't even notice the Chelsea fans are there!!
