Ozwin Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Filbert Fox! I went to the 02 Arena a few weeks ago, I went to see The Mighty Ducks vs the L.A. Kings and it was one hell of a game. The actual on pitch entertainment was good but I have to say that it was mainly because the quarterly breaks had some kick arse entertainment. Right firstly, the L.A. Kings masoct, Bailey, was an absolute machine. Seriously, you won't see a better mascot in your life. During these quarterly breaks and during the game this guy was running up and down the stadium like a mad man. He was getting people pumped, getting sections of the crowd who were a bit quiet to start shouting and helped by throwing jerseys into the sections and getting people pumped. This is nothing compared to our so called mascot called 'Filbert' - He's all well and good for the little kids and whatnot, but mascots can be used to pump the whole crowd up, not just the kids. This Bailey mascot was a machine, pure and simple and because of him the atmosphere of the game was increased dramatically. When things got a bit dull, he got things going again. I think we need a mascot who can get the crowd going and the adrenaline pumping. Not one that comes out before and during half time to wave and take a few kids around with a flag. I firmly believe that I've seen the future.
DB11 Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Is there a longer video of that mascot doing stuff you say he does?
Ozwin Posted 10 November 2007 Author Posted 10 November 2007 I couldn't find any DB no. >_> But take my word for it, he was amazing. Filbert's great, but we need some fight and I reckon the mascot can help us do that. He could be the saviour of our football team. Srsly.
evan Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 i think its more likely to be down to the lack of filbert's "cousin Dennis" who i havent seen in the lcfc shop catalogue this year
ASH17LCFC Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 Sounds like something the WWE would do ... A man running up the line and trying to pump the crowd would firstly be told to FOOK OFF RITE OF CHAP and second whats wrong with us the fans making some noice ?
Matt Posted 10 November 2007 Posted 10 November 2007 i think its more likely to be down to the lack of filbert's "cousin Dennis" who i havent seen in the lcfc shop catalogue this year or Vicky...Did they have a bust up or something?!
Ozwin Posted 10 November 2007 Author Posted 10 November 2007 The fans do make noise, but not enough. The Walkers Stadium only has the kop IMO which makes a reasonable amount of noise. I guess a mascot is a bit cheesy and probably would be told to f-off, but if it's a way to generate some noise then why not get him out a bit more?

Ozwin Posted 10 November 2007 Author Posted 10 November 2007 >_> Well there are groups of fans who try to start things but we need more, rather than half the stadium groaning and shouting '****ING GET THE BALL OUT' and causing panic during the entire game. Just my thoughts though obviously. Feel free to disagree.
