fatboy Posted 11 November 2007 Posted 11 November 2007 I say give him a go, other people on other sites & on the radio say he's a good player, and say he had a great game in the last reserve game. If he's not great at defending play him on the wing, think he'll be better than Newton, Maybury & that flying winger we had last season, now what was his name Cruyff, Ronaldo, no Josh Low!!! Defending at right back isn't always neccessary, think Cicinho & Cafu, take the attack to the opposition.

At least he's scores a few goals and that would be a nice change. Apart from a couple last time out, I think Kaebi's mustered about four shots all told in his season so far. And none have threatened to go in.

Jay Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 kaebi has been playin at full back in the reserves he cant defend you would slate him more than stearman, personally i feel this is unfair a lad behind me is giving stears stick all game saying stuff like 'look at his positioning' 'come on stearman your sh*t', he defended well in one case and the lad said that i was like 'what the ****' what did you want him to do dive in and get a yellow, take the ball off him and go on a jinking run and slot it past the keeper, i mean for god sake, fans like this make me laugh they obviously know fu*k all about football and how to play the game, im in F1 if its you let me guess he sits on row cc or somewhere close?
Thracian Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Right-back.Striker playing on the wing. Fair test. Chambers often plays wide roll for the Reseves/Academy. McKay, Kee, Sappleton and, now, Odhiambo tend to take the striker positions. Chambers, starting on the right but given licence to roam, would be far more dangerous than anyone else I can think of right now, just as I feel Hayes would have the same effect starting on the left. Neither are necessarily the ideal solution - but they seem to me the best we've got and they at least appear to have the talent to flourish. I've not ruled Kaebi out as a potential attacker but I want to see it first in the reserves. I certainly don't want to sanction Russian roulette in the first team.

I agree, I just think it's unfair to say Kaebi hasn't had many shots when he's playing right-back (and struggling), comparing him to a striker playing right wing. I hope they try him further forward too. I've pretty much given up hope though, which is a shame because I think he's a player where we should be looking to exploit his strengths rather than hang him out to dry.

We would seem to be in accord then. Every time I think about Kaebi the fact remains that he has ability. He has excellent close control, gets his head up and quite obviously has a turn of pace. He's not averse to working hard either butI'd feel safer seeing him doing that work up front - as I always am with Newton. The glaring faults that come with all Kaebi's ability make him a potential disaster at right back but you do just wonder if there is that role somewhere which, as you say, plays to his strengths. It is no different to what I've sanctioned for the likes of Sheehan, Porter or Hayes. I've never argued that those players are without weaknesses, just that their strengths are worth using. So it might be with Kaebi because if he were in a forward role and he did have the confidence to run at people he is exactly the kind of player who might produce goals. I see absolutely no reason why the theory could not be tested in the reserves and am surprised it hasn't been.

Thats why he's not being used in an attacking role.

davieG Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 You probably sent them that request to be sat below some DDs by mistake. I'm in EE's and it's always packed out in there, there's no room to breathe but I do get rather a lift sitting there.
Tevez Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 I got told by someone that Kaebi is the worst player in the squad.

Sods Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 I think Nielson deserves his chance now, he looks good.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 let me guess he sits on row cc or somewhere close? no dd i think well im in bb with Emmerson on me shirt dont hurl abuse at me if its you !

wayneb1966 Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 i dont go that often these days but after watching the 2 draws on sky and having picked saturdays game to go down(free tickets thank goodness) it seems quite simple that we just play players out of position and most of the younger players are good prospects but there just not good enough, how can stearman , sheehan ,mattock , be better than a 50 cap international regardless of his country ...kaebi he must be talent surely. i , like everyone else must have looked at his clips on youtube anyone that can keep up with ronaldo and dump figo on is ar** at full pace must be what were looking for on the wing(not full back as he's been playing in the reserves )and ferreira ..you dont get signed by benfica for nothing ,when will he get his chance, fryatt must be played in his best position of striker not midfield ,kenton/chambers centre mid i dont think so ,and im sorry but newton-cort-waste of time and wages, if were going to give any of our youngsters a run surley it must be billy kee 17 goals for the under 18s this season already more than the whole 1st team squad have got this season put together.....phew just thought id get that off my chest

One massive plus point in Kaebi's favour is that he doesn't freeze in front of big crowds. For that reason alone, he deserves a chance in the first team squad, at least once we have a manager who will restore 4-4-2.
