Bert Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 For the way he's played in the past few games, he definetly, deserves his own thread. He was different gravy against Chelsea, and has put a lot of solid performances this season wherever he has been asked to play. Awesome today too. He just works and works and works, and my, he doesn't half put a good tackle in.

He even has a comedy aspect to add to the game with the odd air kick not going amiss.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Moment of the match for me was when Stearman was tracking one of their players down the touchline and a bloke behind me shouted "DON'T DIVE IN!", at which point with perfect timing Kenton came from the side and slid about five metres, took the ball, the man and they all went out of play together to raucous cheers from the away end, while Stearman wondered where the man he was marking had just gone. Brilliant. Have to agree, firstly for a transfer-listed backup utility defender to play as well as he did at Stamford Bridge - pitched in, not match-fit, against Frank Lampard - was excellent. Secondly, to come on today in unexpected circumstances and turn in a performance like that in difficult conditions was great to see and I'm really glad for him because you can tell he has worked hard and kept at it despite being frozen out at the start of the season. Keep it up.

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Kenton has amazed me, especially how well he's coped in midfield. With the James Chambers comedy act in full swing, most of us probably dreaded the thought of having TWO defenders in midfield, but ever since being drafted back into the team, he's been a different class. Even back in defence, a position where his form has been considered hit and miss since re-joining us, he impressed today. Kents.
Tevez Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Darren Kenton, he's got facebook. Therefore he's a god.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I may have to partake in some Darren Kenton Facebookery.

Nath Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 He was immense yesterday. Not a foot wrong, just a bit of trickery of an air shot. Deserves a start tomorrow.
Jack Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 you know you would I was wondering how long a comment from you would take

Thracian Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I'm pleased for Kenton. He's not been my favourite player by a long way. He's seemed too slow for a full-back, too small for a centre-back and I never even thought of him in midfield. He's not had the best of luck and opportunity at Leicester but he's kept his head down, stuck at it and has put in some useful shifts for us lately. I was quite impressed at the beginning of the season. Not many first teamers turn out for the reserves, much less the senior players but he and Maybury turned out and always had the enthusiasm to give of their best. If I had to bet I doubt that Kenton will feature greatly but he has shown himself to be a useful utility player to have on the bench and good luck to him when chances arise. And well done yesterday.
dpjfox Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Thracian: is Kenton worth the right back spot with Stearman moving to right midfield or would you play Kaibi?

And you want to see Stearman at centreback. Brilliant.
lcfc_jme Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Kenton is Mr Reliable. Mr Consistent. Solid. Not putting a foot wrong. All the things at the minute that Stearman is failing to be. I'd say the only reason Stears is in the side ahead of Kenton is based on the fact he's younger, probably a fair bit fitter and is involved (somehow) in the Under 21's setup so has (supposedly) a lot of potential.
Thracian Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Thracian: is Kenton worth the right back spot with Stearman moving to right midfield or would you play Kaibi? I wouldn't play Kenton and Stearman on the right because it overloads the side defensively. It's hard to justify changing the defence after a clean sheet anyway and especially when it's clear that there will have to be changes elsewhere. And no I wouldn't use Kaebi. Someone thought he was injured anyway but having seen him play indifferently at full-back I would want to see him play well in matches at right midfield before I ever let him loose in the first team. I'd use Hume at right midfield as at Bristol. Or Odhiambo. Eric is a decent all-round footballer who's fit, reasonable quick, skillful, works hard and can pass/score goals. He is versatile enough to play on the right or to move into the centre as a supporting striker.
