davieG Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 The book should stop with the Manager, afterall he picks the team. I seem to recall an interview with Allen who was bragging about how he was reshaping the squad.. whilst Milan openly admitted in signing N'GottyThen there was the small incident that involved Jimmy Floyd.. If it was Milan signing the players then he would be here wouldnt he?? But then, Im sure others will say different. Yes but the N'Gotty statement was a clever use of words by MM I think as he actually said the N'Gotty was the only signing that MA wasn't aware of, that can easily imply that others were identified by MM and run past MA to rubber stamp. As for JFH maybe that was the final straw for MA when he put his foot down and said no more shite please MM. I have strong doubts that MA had much input into the signings of Neilson, Hellings and Kaebi. All conjecture of course as is everyone elses explanations!

Ultra Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Agree, he can't be blamed for the size of the squad as that includes many transfer listed players that he didn't sign and couldn't shift. What we will probalby never find out is who was responsble for the wrong signings It's well documented that Nielsen and Hellings were Don Mackay signings. And Ferreira and Djeziri were signed after Allen got the push, so no dispute there on who brought them here. One thing Holloway has rightly insisted on is that he and he alone will make the decision on signings, at least if he's still around when January comes..

At least Ferreira and Djeziri were players who played in positions we needed to strengthen in, even if they turned out not to be very good. I really hope that Holloway can bring in a couple of decent players because until we are creative enough to break teams down at home we aren't going to start improving our home form anytime soon.
