Thracian Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 We are'nt going anywhere fast you're right. That is down to none other than.......Martin Allen! He got them in, and didnt get rid of the deadwood. And Holloway has actually got a team promoted, and not failed to get MK Dons up from League 2, who correct me if im wrong, but were'nt they nailed on favourites to go up? If you're going to champion mediocrity then lets get Peter Taylor back. That's a very rocky road to go down.
Guest Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 We can drag this out for years if we try Grr. allen didn't really get a chance Seeing as we still don't know for definite why he was sacked, that's could be a foolish statement. Note the word "could". You bunch of deluded fools,we are going nowhere fast,we was going to win the league every year for the last 3 or 4 years but we only just stay up! This year is the one we get relegated,Allen had the players gelling well but now they just dont want to play for this club,Allen was a motivator and Holloway is just a muppet on a string that is no good as a manager and nearly as bad as he was a player! Live with it! And why all the abuse,i thought a messageboard you was allowed your say?you sad bunch of cling ons! Me? Deluded fool? Playing well? Were you not at Accrington? Or Forest? Did you see something I didn't at home to Blackpool, 'cos we weren't special then either. I agree, the players look as though they don't want to play for the club, but a lot of them were here before Allen came here. Our problems a lot more deep-rooted, IMO, and any manager is going to have his work cut out.
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 I thought Martin Allen was a good manager and defended his sacking but look at the side, look how many of his buys have featured reguarly since Ollie has arrived, Ollie prefers to play Kenton in midfield rather than the likes of Hellings, he plays Maybury rather than Kaebi, and Kishishev's on loan at Leeds

Bellend Sebastian Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 Allen signed players that he didn't think were good enough to get in the team, and three managerial regimes since have agreed with him. Smashing stuff, I can see why he's still held in such high regard
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 You bunch of deluded fools,we are going nowhere fast,we was going to win the league every year for the last 3 or 4 years but we only just stay up! Come the end of January Holloway would have assembled his own squad, got rid of all the mediocre players that Allen signed and have us playing decent football. You also point out that since Allen's departure the players no longer want to play for this club. If that is the case then they can bugger off for all I care. Managers change at clubs all the time because football is like that nowadays, and if that was the excuse that every player used after a mangerial change then they'd get laughed at. If anything, a change of manager should spur them on and encourage them to impress their new boss, not suddenly incline them to play awful football. And Holloway isn't a motivator is he? Since he's been at the club he's shown every sign that he wants the best out of this crop of players and seems to treat them well and defend them. If that doens't give you enough motivation to put in maximum effort then you are just a lazy bastard. The guys been here for a matter of days, give him a chance, it's not his squad, after all. (cough, Klingon willy puller, cough).
leicesterseddon Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 Allen was crap and completely out of his league. You just have to look at the utter dump he signed in the summer to see that. Anyone reading Olly's match notes in the programme before the WBA game would realise that he has acknowledged his squad is completely useless. If Milan gives Olly enough money and time he'll keep us up this season but to be honest that's the best we can hope for this year - after all, you can't polish a turd (or 30!). I accept that Allen was passionate, funny and probably a nice enough bloke but the sooner he gets back to the footballing underworld the better. It's obvious from his signings that Allen quite frankly was completely clueless. I admire Milan for being brave and decisive enough to get rid of Allen but hate him for signing him in the first place. Milan had so much time last summer to get it right and he messed up big time and that, my friends, is why we are being condemned to (yet) another season of dross and why we'll be lucky if we're not playing against Huddersfield & co. next season
Hugo Sanchez Posted 9 December 2007 Posted 9 December 2007 Why was Allen so bad ? His last league game we won 4-1 and he even played THAT SUPERSTAR FROM IRAN. WHAT MORE DID YOU WANT ?

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Same shit as always stop liveing in the past people lets stop makeing excuses and blameing who fooked up lets just get hope come january where not too fooked and can get a new look squad happening
ozleicester Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 I object to that commentI've just had yesterdays subway(veggie delight!) does that mean I am living in the past too??? Well does it??? If you had eaten Italian yesterday,, you would not only be living in the past..but also in the pasta (still vegie tho)
Thracian Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 ?????We're playing with the team Allen created. No we're not. Only three of Saturday's starting X1 might be termed Allen players: Fulop, Clemence and Cort. N'Gotty was an unused sub and Hayes was used for a quarter of the game. Even considering the Allen selection there was considerable difference between the side which beat Watford and the one which played West Brom.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Na we are just playing with a shit team

To be fair, Thrac, I think the point was that Holloway hasnt been able to bring his own players in yet.. So no we arnt playing with Allens team as such but in reality it isnt Holloways either.. Megson only brought in John and we have the largest squad in the Division.... That speaks volumes IMO. Come the end of January I would expect to see a completley different starting 11.

Come the end of January I would expect to see a completley different starting 11. We might have the largest squad but sadly everyone is now aware that a great many of that squad are simply not first team standard. I'd say at least 10 of the squad listed in Saturday's programme falls into that category, perhaps as many as 13 and that squad doesn't include the summer signed Ferreira and Djeziri. Add those in and it means 15 of our 37 "names" are of little value above reserves level. That is a huge condemnation of our leadership. We shouldn't ever have signed so many players in the first place. It's been an obscene waste of money. I mentioned a first team squad of 24-28 as being adequate in the summer, supplemented for training purposes by the best of our scholars. It's quality that we need not quantity.
Bluemoon Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Come the end of January Holloway will have bought him some of his players and i feel that will be when we start to see a half decent team coming together. Allen is a thing of the past forget him, and support holloway hes only been here a couple of weeks! Not so sure about Holloways ability to spot a player or to build a successful team come to that. As far as I am aware, most of Plymouth's best players like Norris and Buzacky, were there before he arrived . It also appears Di Canio is getting more out of Buzacky at QPR than Holloway ever managed. Worrying !!
Thracian Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 We haven't played Watford this season. Excuse me? Who did we play on August 25?

Buzacky is a quality player, and was very good at plymouth. I would like to see someone like Halmosei (spelt wrong) here, im 100% behind holloway.
