Tommy G Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Allen played people out of position, this was clear from the start against Blackpool
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Allen played people out of position, this was clear from the start against Blackpool Any manager who comes here would more than likely have to play players out of position at some point, Something happens to hayes we have no left wingers at all.

Jay Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Not so sure about Holloways ability to spot a player or to build a successful team come to that. As far as I am aware, most of Plymouth's best players like Norris and Buzacky, were there before he arrived . It also appears Di Canio is getting more out of Buzacky at QPR than Holloway ever managed. Worrying !! I have been reading Ian Holloways book and it seems him and Gary Penrice certainly have an ability to spot a player. during his Bristol Rovers days he managed to sign players like... Barry Hayles from Stevenage went onto play in the premiership. Nathan Ellington from Watton & Hersham WHO!!! Jason Roberts from west brom reserves Jamie Cureton from rotting in Norwich reserves Bobby Zamora who was brought through the youth but they couldn't afford to offer him a new deal at QPR he took over a club in Adminsitration who's squad went overnight from 51 to 8 players and got them promoted within 2 seasons at plymouth signed players like.. Halmosi Buzaky Ebanks Blake Lee Martin Scott Sinclair plus a few others ALL of those players are better than we have at the minute

Something big needs to happen in Jan to sort this mess out
John Clayton Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Lets hope he can replicate that at city then?Something big needs to happen in Jan to sort this mess out It seems to me that some fans are unhappy already!! Ollie
maddog Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Mandaric will be the man to blame if we do go down, all this choping and changing of managers. But we are way to good to go down and theres no way we will go down. I think it will all click in January we will go on a 10 game winning run and finish around 11th place in the table

Thracian Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 I won't be blaming Holloway. You could put any manager in charge at Leicester right now and they'd ALL find it damned difficult. No, if Leicester City go down or continue to underperform this season there will only one person the buck of blame will finally stop at. Fez!. As prospective FoxesTalk Poster of the Year he, with the help of of his batman and encyclopaedic football oracle Manwell, should have done far more to guide Mandaric away from the misty paths of folly! :D Hullfox might have offered the benefit of his vast experience too.
colbo68 Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Under Allen we lost to blackpool. The 4-1 Watford win was pretty jammy (3 good free kicks from Sheehan) it wasn't like we played amazin football. Allen constently played players out of position. Allen bought loads of crap over the Summer. Admittedly Smegson and Ollie also played players out of position etc. but they are trying to do it with Allen's crappy players and the players from last season, not that easy really! I thought that a manager signed players who he felt could play for him and to play a certain formation? You can't say that the players Allen bought in were crap? Clemence (Brums player of the season last year), Campbell, Fulop - for me the problem was that Allen wasnt able to work with the players he signed and we have been in a mess ever since. Stop chopping and changing Mandaric and let Ollie get on with it PS - the win over Watford was JAMMY?!!! we could have scored six or seven! - easily the best win I've seen at the Walkers for years
l444ry Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 How anyone can have the stupidity to make such dogmatic judgements on Martin Allen when he only had three games in charge, beggars belief. Unless that person is Derek Acorah.
Hullfox Posted 10 December 2007 Posted 10 December 2007 Seeing as we still don't know for definite why he was sacked. You speak for yourself young (but older than Kishishev) lady.

But sorry to be pedantic but Buzacky was already at Plymouth club when Ollie arrived and he then moved him on. Halmose knocked on the door and intoduced himself. Don't forget this supposed forward thing was Ollie's unique selling point to MM. Wishing to be proved wrong. De Canio already seems to be getting more out of Buzacky than Ollie ever did.

That is why we have exactly the same problems as last season. They were not corrected over the summer and that is Allen's fault.
Ultra Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Not strictly true. He brought in Clive Clarke at left-back who looked pretty decent for the two games he completed. I don't really think Allen can be blamed for his heart trouble, although I await posts from the pro-Mandy brigade seeking to prove otherwise..

Agree that he looked alright, but he was brought in on loan and wasn't one of his thirteen (???) signings.
Tommy G Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 It all boils down to too many signings in the summer
Fat Ron Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 It all boils down to too many signings in the summer Too many of the wrong signings, definatly
Ultra Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 I don't think that would have been a problem if he'd been able to shift a few more of the Levein signings. But no-one else would take them on the terms they're on here.
Thracian Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Agree that he looked alright, but he was brought in on loan and wasn't one of his thirteen (???) signings. Has it been established who was responsible for which signings?

They wouldnt have been on that much from the Levein era would they?? We were skint????
davieG Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Too many of the wrong signings, definatly Agree, he can't be blamed for the size of the squad as that includes many transfer listed players that he didn't sign and couldn't shift. What we will probalby never find out is who was responsble for the wrong signings

I seem to recall an interview with Allen who was bragging about how he was reshaping the squad.. whilst Milan openly admitted in signing N'Gotty Then there was the small incident that involved Jimmy Floyd.. If it was Milan signing the players then he would be here wouldnt he?? But then, Im sure others will say different.
mancunianfox Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Has it been established who was responsible for which signings? Until proved otherwise I will lay the responsobility with Martin Allen and/or Don Mackay.
