It's possible to make the top half, which would be good as it is something to build up on for next season

How the hell can people still talk of making the playoffs?

We are TWO points from the drop zone, and haven't put two wins together all season!

Much as it pains me to say it this is the best post in this thread.

The season is far from over, We've got one hell of a relegation battle to look forward to.

now that is a good point

Most importantly we need to pull clear from the relegation zone. Until we do that the season is far from over.

Very unlikely but if we could be top half with ten games to go then an incredible run could always mean we nab sixt place (think '96).

The season isn't over until it's mathematically so, really disappointing, but not over

course it's not over it's far from over.

if sunderland can win the league still from like 19th 20th at christmas I'm sure we can make a push for the play offs still

No there is still half the season left and we could easily make the playoffs

On the other hand we could easily come bottom. The season is not over until its over.

It's all well mentioning Sunderland, but they were allowed to spend good money - something Milan wouldn't even be prepared to match. Also, Sunderland's financial backing, stadium and manager were all pulling factors for bringing in the right players.

As for Crystal Palace - they had a decent midfield and an effective strike force in Johnson and Shipperley. For me, that was a once in a million transformation, and anyone using that argument to support the shower of shite we've got is sadly clutching at straws.

Of course pomotion is still possible, but that's as likely as Hammond banging in 20 goals a season - it's just not going to happen. (well, we know who would argue otherwise)

January will not change too much because there are too many areas needing to be addressed. Our defensive record has been tremendous up until recently, albeit assisted by the plethora of defenders in the side - you can see why Megson was perhaps justified in adopting his defensive tactics as much as it pains me to say. Granted, we only won one game under him, same as Holloway, but it provided us with a better platform to go out and win games because we looked solid at the back. This is by no means saying I still want Megson here - it's just that his approach with the players we've got might have the been the most effective until January. We'll never know, it's all hindsight.

I know some will probably disagree with that, but whatever way we look at it, we are a bit shit at present.
