dog_4 Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 i'm guessing he's still in good nick kavanaugh. Played well last year in sunderlands promotion season along with sheffield wednesday wanting to sign him permantly after having him on loan.

Nationwider Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Mrs Merton: So Graham, at the age of 34 and finding yourself surplus to requirements at a struggling Premiership side, what was it that first attracted you to millionaire Milan Mandaric? Graham Kavanagh: .... Nice bloke, good pro - but he's played two ressy games in the last two months and is thought to be generally cream crackered. Take him on loan 'til May as cover, Milan, but don't spoil him with a silly contract as he'll only wind up alongside Weso in a central position on the physio table.

What he said n'all. I can't believe this bloke is being considered as a viable signing, I really can't. And i say this as someone who really likes fish fingers.
Jay Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Maybe it is harsh to judge on one game but if you can't pick up your personal game for a crucial fixture at home to fellow strugglers then when else are you going to play well. And as for that, we are now in a financially viable position to go out and buy young and hungry players that could potential fire us up the league, thats why I'm baffled we are going for another "old shunter" as Thracian aptly put. Poor old Micky Adams had nothing to spend except £500,000 weeks from the end of his tenure (which proved a good investment considering we sold him for £2-3m a season later) so he had no choice other than sign free transfers that were inevitably old because good young talent just isn't avaliable on a free. do we have to go through this AGAIN!!!! The year we got relegated Adams had just about the biggest budget in the championship!! he just spent it in a different way Free Transfers are not FREE they don't just walk in the front door and cost nothing you have wages to find and normally a massive signing on fee Adams had the chance and OPPORTUNITY to sign a young Nigel Reo Coker from MK Dons for £500 000 but thought it was a waste of money and a better investment to sign someone like Martin Keown pay him £15k per week £750 000 over a season than buy a younger player with a third of the wages enabling you to pay a transfer fee. you need to get over this love affair with Micky Adams and face facts he lied to you about being skint

Rest of your argument still stands though...
Scow Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I've always rated Kavanagh. He has that bit of nous and he's a very good passer of the ball. He's never had much pace so that won't be an issue. It is a concern that we're buying another defensively minded player, but I suppose Holloway wants to give us a solid base in midfield so he can play with genuine wingers on both flanks.
