Offers for Kavanagh and Fulop

Recommended Posts

If Scumderland wish to start a bidding war, I'm sure Milan and our fans (Even I and I love Fulop) will realise that every player has their price. If that happens we must look elsewhere, not too be blinkered and believe he is our only option. " mil is probably as high as We should go, depending on wages and slice that agents and players take.

This is what sunderland think he's worth

Blimey. Don't think they have seen his full potential.

Considering Keane paid £9 million for Gordan, £1 million for Fulop would be a good price.

Wouldn't pay above £2 million but he's the best keeper we've had in years and arguably one of the best in the league.

I'd rather play Kavanagh center mid than N'Gotty or Kenton.

In fact, why werent people as negative when we signed N'gotty... hes alot older but it appears the only real problem with Kavanagh is age

Your having a laugh aren't you, 3/4 years ago I would have happily taken Kavanagh but now his age has contrived to make him slow and cumbersome, virtually immobile, can't pass, feeble in the tackle. Bare in mind I'm judging him on what I have actually seen not anything else (videos, recommendations, past glories e.t.c.) Remember we made the same mistake with Kaebi assuming he was a world-beater when in reality 3 managers never really thought he was good enough to get in our crap team.

Quite agree. I cannot see how he will take us forward at all. Our team is crying out for pace, energy and specialist expertise. Not another aged shunter.

I think he'll be a good signing, he seems to keep himself fit. I'd take Gary Speed right now, I think they exude similar levels of desire on the pitch even if Kavanagh does pick up more injuries. We certainly need another centre mid to complement him though, preferably long haired, foreign and as flimsy as possible.

I agree... especially the suggestion of Gary Speed, i think we've lost out in this

:crylaugh:

No, you're having a laugh.

You justify to me how you've come to the conclusion that Kavanagh has become 'slow', 'cumbersome' and 'virtually immobile', and i might take you seriously. You say you've seen videos. What of? He aint played no games for Sunderland hardly this season? For Sheff Wed in his loan period? I might understand that, but look at their rise up the table with him and look whats happened since hes left.

And comparing him to Kaebi is farcical. For a start, Kavanagh speaks English, and has been in the top 2 divisions of English football now for about the last 10 years.

Wait a mintue there, go back and read the post slowly, I was saying I am only judging him on what I have seen through my own eyes at Hillsborough. I said that no-one can judge by videos and recommendations e.t.c.. In that 90 minutes against a turgid Megson XI he was bossed off the park by the young Andy King. That's where I have come to the conclusions.

I'm not one bit bothered about Kavanagh's age....

Lets face it, when we get to the prem 80% of our team wont be good enough for there anyway so they will need replacing...

Sorry to be so brutal, but i would find it easier to swallow IF we get to the prem and get told players like him are being replaced...

Okay, fair enough, but dont you think its rather ridiculous to judge a player on what i think was his first start for Wednesday, probably his first game of the season?

This is completely off topic, but you talk about age a lot...you dont want older players, like when who was in charge - the person who you have mentioned several times to be our manager this season, Micky Adams. Just find it amusing.

Maybe it is harsh to judge on one game but if you can't pick up your personal game for a crucial fixture at home to fellow strugglers then when else are you going to play well.

And as for that, we are now in a financially viable position to go out and buy young and hungry players that could potential fire us up the league, thats why I'm baffled we are going for another "old shunter" as Thracian aptly put. Poor old Micky Adams had nothing to spend except £500,000 weeks from the end of his tenure (which proved a good investment considering we sold him for £2-3m a season later) so he had no choice other than sign free transfers that were inevitably old because good young talent just isn't avaliable on a free.

Ollie talks about characters all the time, and I'm sure landing Kavanagh is a much to do about his character, as to his playing skills. I'm sure Ollie has done his homework and whoever we'll sign this January, there will be a good chance for them to suceed here.

About Fulop, why havent we penned this deal ages ago...?! Please sort it out Milan....

It is extremely harsh, and for a start, you cannot justify that statement - if a player is not fully fit, theres no way he can play to his potential. You know that and i know that.

Kavanagh, old shunter, whatever, is proven in this league. And that is what we need.

moaning about world? You tight bastards its only like 4pound a month.

Get a job

both good signings, get them in full time

Yeah they are...........we pay enough to see the games.

Love you to come into my shop......you're obviously not short of a shilling or two......I could charge you what I liked

There is no conclusive prove that he was fit or unfit but to me if you start a game the manager think's you are fit enough to do a job, plus as someone has said already in this very thread Kavanagh looks after his fitness.

Well look at John today - clearly not match fit - Wesolowski a few games ago, not fit.....sometimes a players position in the team is not validated by his fitness, its by having no other options. Kavanagh may keep himself fit, but as you know there is a rather large difference between being fit and match fit.

Hope we are not 2 seasons too late here. A fit Kavanagh would be a huge improvement on anything we currently have in midfield. However, only 17 league appearances in 18 months might tell its own story.

Rather than the home shirt, which i was pretty annoyed not to get today as the qeues were so big, im tempted to get a fulop shirt if he signs... then again, the green colour is very off putting

Why are we doing this, lets say Kavanagh isn't rapidly going down hill, which I think he is, at the very best I'd say he's no better than Stephen Clemance. So how is this a good signing.

Attack. Minded. Midfielders. Who. Can. Pass. A. Ball. Wingers. Left. Back. Problem areas for about three ****ing years you'd think one of the numptys we've had in charge, and **** knows theres been enough them, would of relised that by now!

I mean if it's for a good price fair enough by no doubts we'll end up paying 7 figures for someone two years off retirement, and everyones faviourate excuse "thats how things work in the current market" will be trollied out again.

If we don't sign at least one winger next month I'm setting up my own team in Coleorton, Nora from number 36 can play on the left and her day nurse can play on the right.
