WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 WHAT IS WRONG WITH AGE... its absolutely ridiculous when people dismiss players over 30 years old. I'll happily have Kavanagh, as he'll over some grit and experience we need. We need older players if you ask me
Staf Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 moaning about world? You tight bastards its only like 4pound a month. Get a job both good signings, get them in full time 4 pound a month is expensive we give enough money to that why should we give them more
Head Honcho Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 If we sign Kavanagh then we'd better get a bigger treatment room because with him Cort and Weso to name but a few it's going to be busy in there!

Transfers like this take us back to our administration days where we ahd no choice but to get players like this. Clemence gives us grit and determination in bundles but little creativity, we need a young and hungry player to slot in beside him and give us that spark.

It only offers inexperience, which we have too muc of... How many older players do we have?
dandannieldanok Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Why does he have to be young? It only offers inexperience, which we have too muc of... How many older players do we have? Because funnily enough younger players tend to make more lung-bursting runs, they have the energy and 9 times out of 10 more desire, they are less prone to injury, they won't have to leave the club in a year or two because they're too old. When we played Sheff Wed Kavanagh was horrendous, he was barely mobile, didn't even look match fit.
Kilworthfox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I would like to say that after hearing the reasons behind the doubts regarding the Kavanagh transfer, I would rather have him in our midfield (even with his hair) than Kenton or James Chambers. A good singing is one which will improve the team, IMO Kavanagh is that due to him being better than the 2 people we are currently trying in that position.
The Reverend Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Anyone thats ever watched Kavanagh, will realise that in actual fact, he can be creative. I think Clemence and Kavanagh in the middle will be perfect really. Both vastly experienced in getting teams out of this division, gritty players, tough tackling, both great players for the Championship. Just the sort of player we need really. Well done Ollie if this deal goes through. And i just watched World, the Mandaric interview, and he said you can obviously never be sure, but the deal is nearing completion.
Staf Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I think Kavanagh will be a good signing but i cant see Sunderland accepting a 1million bid for Fulop

I'm not sure one way or the other but that's a convincing argument if he's all we can afford/get.

Age has noting to do with desire Savage beats any players in our team for effort and is older than most of them. desire you are born with. Carl Cort is 29 and he is in and out of the doctors more than a cleaner. Also how old is Matt Piper now 24 oh and Matt Jones? 26 Think some people are unlucky and some just not physically up to it. As far as i know Kavanagh is not as bad as these younger examples. Kavanagh was poor vs us earlier in the season, but they all were.
Kilworthfox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I'm not sure one way or the other but that's a convincing argument if he's all we can afford/get. I would like too add at this point that my sence talking has vastly improved recently
WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Sorry, arent we allowed a player over the age of 30 in our squad, what a load of rubbish... What experience do we currently have? None
Simon Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 I think Kavanagh will be a good signing but i cant see Sunderland accepting a 1million bid for Fulop They haven't- they're going to try and string this out as much as they can...
The Reverend Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 They haven't- they're going to try and string this out as much as they can... Or sell him to QPR for double that.
Staf Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Or sell him to QPR for double that. Surely we can double are offer for him or is 2million to much
davieG Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Surely we can double are offer for him or is 2million to much It's rare for MM to spend that much on a player
WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Surely we can double are offer for him or is 2million to much Thats quite steep for a goalie
Staf Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Thats quite steep for a goalie He is the best goalie in the league in my opinion i would be happy for us to spend 2million on a goalie
Kilworthfox Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Surely we can double are offer for him or is 2million to much If Scumderland wish to start a bidding war, I'm sure Milan and our fans (Even I and I love Fulop) will realise that every player has their price. If that happens we must look elsewhere, not too be blinkered and believe he is our only option. " mil is probably as high as We should go, depending on wages and slice that agents and players take.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 Have heard Watford have come in for Fulop and offered more money than us. I can't name my source, but he's usually fairly reliable, may be on the look out for a new keeper then.
WetFlannel Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 He is the best goalie in the league in my opinion i would be happy for us to spend 2million on a goalie but its not your money
MPH Posted 29 December 2007 Posted 29 December 2007 but its not your money we have a chance to sign a player who is, in my opinion, a genuine premiership standard player. They might not come around too often and we have less chance of them being actually interested in signing for us... 2m is not that bad a price, especially if you consider we paid 1.6 for dj Cambell. And look how important Fulop has been for us( Not a dig at DJ but a compliment to Marton)

If thats the case we should waste no more time with it and focus on different targets, we cannot afford the time to enter drawn-out bidding wars that last weeks, especially for a keeper.
