Steven Posted 10 March 2005 Posted 10 March 2005 Just got back from the Q&A with Craig Levein.Apparently he is finalising a deal to bring a young Slovenian striker to the club. He says that this kid is class & will develop into a top player. He commented that there is plenty of untapped ability in this part of the world & Slovenia (and the like) are winning lots of youth tournaments at the moment. However he will not be joining until the summer. As for signings within the next two weeks, he said he had a couple of things in mind but nothing concrete & would not sign someone for the sake of it. Spoke to Rob Kelly about Sunday & he said he wouldn't be surprised if Savage didnt play & not necessarily because of injury... just not selected. He said Flitcroft, Reid & Thompson would be his bet. He reckons that Blackburn are not as good a footballing side as Charlton but what they do have is physical strength. He said they possess six or seven 6 foot + bruisers who will be prepared to fight us. They will also cause problems from set pieces. He thinks a much tougher proposition than Charlton for these reasons. CL came across as a man who is very intelligent & knows what he wants. He seems to have a long term plan firmly in mind. He also appears to have the ability to search the continenet for a bargain (Germany last week, Slovenia etc) & not just concentrate in the UK which is what Adams appeared mainly to do. I, for one, am more confident with this man in charge than his predecessor. Time will no doubt tell tho'. Another interesting point that came up was that we moved to get Pat McCarthy quicker than was originally planned. This was because other clubs were poised to bid for him, Sunderland & Derby to name just two!
