Moreton Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Holloway said after the Coventry game that , before the game, he watched a DVD of Some of Leicester Citys greatest games and he said he was quite upset and moved by it, some say that this was what inspired yeaturdays victory over our M69 rivals, so maybe he will tell the players this and perhaps even make them watch it for themselves, he will tell the players what the fans want and what they have missed all these years, will he demand more passion to bring back the good times after watching this DVD (given to him by the Birtch)?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 I heard that too Moreton - an astute move by the Birch I feel, letting the new manager know just exactly how WE see LCFC and not the dross of the last few years that most neutrals (he may be our manager now, but he was a neutral before) would associate with Leicester. If I remember correctly, he talked about seeing Glover and Weller on the wings bringing tears to his eyes. Bring back those days!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 Nice story - but I reckon it's bollocks. No, it's true! Weller and Glover were great wingers who played for Leicester!
DB11 Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 he said he was quite upset and moved by it I'm sure that is total crap
davieG Posted 13 January 2008 Posted 13 January 2008 From the OS so must be crap Glover And Weller Inspire Foxes To Victory Posted on: Sat 12 Jan 2008 Ian Holloway took inspiration from Leicester's past to guide the Foxes to victory over Coventry City on Saturday afternoon. The City boss had spent the evening before the game watching a DVD of Leicester's greatest ever games - with their famous 4-0 victory over Luton Town in 1974 being a particular favourite. And Holloway's men rolled back the years to put on a vintage performance to gain a 2-0 victory over the Sky Blues at the Walkers Stadium - with Hungarian wing duo Zsolt Laczko and Gabor Bori catching the eye. Speaking after the game, he said: "I watched a DVD of the club last night that Alan Birchenall had given me and I got quite upset if I am honest. "I saw Lenny Glover running down one wing and Keith Weller running down the other. One of the fans in the crowd held up a sign that said 'Glover is God' on it and that is what football is all about for me. We haven't really had that here for some time. "The Hungarian lads have done really well in training since they arrived and it was great to see them out on the pitch. They certainly seemed to get the fans going. "Zsolt could have scored a couple of goals in the first few minutes. He's only a young man and he did well. I was also pleased with Gabor. He's bright and quick and he hardly gave the ball away. He's a tenacious little fella. "I think you can see what difference a balanced team can make today. We still need some more choices, but at least I was able to put round pegs in round holes today. "We have got a long way to go yet but today was a start. We have now got to get a run of victories together." City restricted the visitors to just two chances on the day - which also pleased the Leicester boss. He added: "We created a lot of chances today and we put in a lot more crosses as well. Part of defending well is attacking well. I'm afraid that from what I have seen of Leicester so far - we were almost attackless until we got a set piece. But things went for us today. "The lads will grow. They have got to keep going. We have now got to put a run together like Palace have done. But that is a very good start for the new lads."
