Brainy Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 They seem capable of beating anybody on the road, plus they've got the rest of the "big four" at home where they are unbeatable. They're only four points off the top. Arsenal and Man Utd have slipped up sometimes this season, so Chelsea will need to take advantage of that.
Jack Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 No I think the title is uniteds, for this season anyway. I just can't see Man Utd not winning it with the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney in the team. Although looking forward to seeing the Drogba and Anelka partnership.
FilboFox Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 I think that Chelsea could win the Premier League but I don't think they will. Man Utd look far too strong and Arsenal can produce moments of pure quality that could keep them above Chelsea and certainly will make it a tussle at the top. Man Utd, I think, will win the league and Chelsea and Arsenal will battle it out for second with Chelsea probably pipping them to it in the end. As for Liverpool, they are well out of it and looking very vulnerable against even weak teams at the other end of the league. Occasionally they can play some great football and get good results, probably what is keeping Benitez in the job, but they don't play like it all the time which is why they are 14 points behind Man Utd now. More interestingly, Everton, Aston Villa, Man City and Portsmouth are putting up a decent battle for 4th place which is refreshing to see after so many seasons of Liverpool and Arsenal dueling over 3rd and 4th places. I think that Everton, if they can keep up the form they are in at the moment, could actually pip Liverpool to it and get a Champions League place but it would require the continued quality for the rest of the season.
WetFlannel Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Theres no reason why they cant, but I just dont see them in the same light now they have an unexperienced manager. Hes done allright so far, but I'm not sure how he will handle them when things come to worse.

I think things are already quite bad with players like Terry, Lampard, Essien, Drogba all missing, and they seem to be coping rather well.

At least hes been able to go and buy a proven replacement, and have class understudies... I was thinking how will he handle it when hes out there against the AC Milans, Real Madrids and Barcas. It will be interesting to how he will cope. Its all good beating Wigan on a weekly basis, but has he actually beat anyone in the top four yet?
Tommy G Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Utd for me. Their always stronger in the second half of the season
Nath Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 It's more of will they than can they. Yes they can... anyone can, but if they will or not is yet to be seen

Its all good beating Wigan on a weekly basis, but has he actually beat anyone in the top four yet? You're right there but he has only played two games (in the league) so far. Away at Man Utd, about three days after he was announced new manager and at Arsenal. The way they play their football away from home won't work against teams like Arsenal and Utd anyway. Like I said though, the remaining games in the league against the other three are at home where they're unbeaten since 2004 (?). Still, I think its a bit too early to judge Grant on his results against the top four.
Ultra Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 They're definite contenders, especially if United lose Rooney and/or Ronaldo for any length of time. The way that, even without many of their megastars, they still notched up THREE away wins last week (more than half the Premier League will manage all season), shows they cannot be discounted. But I don't think Abramovich would mind too much about them missing out, as long as they took the Champions League as a consolation..
Joe. Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Yes they can but I don't think they will. Man Utd will be too strong in the long run of things for me.

Much as I hate to admit it I think the glory boy team will win the title unless Ronaldo gets injured or loses his miracle streak. Fabregas was hot at the start of the season, but has gone off the boil. If he can regain that form, which was on par with Ronaldo now, then it will be an interesting run in. Anelka was a genius signing for Chelsea - just the kind of player they need with Dogbreath away. I think the real interest for the neutral is who is gonna be 4th - I strongly suspect it WON'T be Liverpool!
