Thracian Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 That post at 6:25pm! Kick-off was at 7.00 but it's been called off cos of a frozen pitch. And can anyone tell me what justification there was for leaving the decision so late? It was no great inconvenience to me but people were turning up in numbers as I was leaving and yet the weather forecast had predicted the same frost as last night. I suppose nothing should surprise me. They could play a game with an afternoon kick-off when Holloway had a talk-in at Kilworth Springs so why wasn't today's kick-off rescheduled due to the weather or the fans at least given proper time to make other arrangments. Some I know travel from as far away as Peterborough. Guess what though. There was time enouigh to tell the Hinckley staff it wasn't on - cos none of them turned up as I could see.

" Blame the local ref who gave it the go ahead at 3pm "A local referee appointed by the Football League had deemed the pitch to be playable at 3pm. But a section of the pitch remained frozen - meaning that the match referee had no choice but to call the game off when he arrived at the stadium."

I left my place around 6 something and as I tuned in on the radio they mentioned that game had been called off and I made a quick U-turn. If hadn't put the phone-in on I'd probably driven all the way to Hinckley. Thank **** I didn't get far But sorry to hear about other people's misfortune.
Nath Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Just drove from Zimbabwe, reached France to learn that the game has been called off. Just this second got home
