Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 I think Thierry deserves a mention... I was tempted, but that would have meant 2 French (which is the same reason Platini and Papin never made the list )
Darkzzz_ Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Yes Cantona, Zola, Bergkamp and even the one and only "Tony Yeboah" deserve a shout out!
Thracian Posted 22 February 2008 Posted 22 February 2008 Yes Cantona, Zola, Bergkamp and even the one and only "Tony Yeboah" deserve a shout out! Bloody hell. Can't believe I missed out Cantona! The bloke was immense and just made for United. The game needs more personalities like him, just like Wimbledon needs its McEnroe's and Nastase's.

What a player, who should have been more exposed on a international level than what he was. It is funny how all the worlds best are remembered more for something else: Here's a few: Maradona- Drugs and Hand of god Pele- Errection adverts George Best- Boozer and womaniser Baggio- THAT penalty miss and turning to Buddishm (which outraged Italy) Cantona- The selhurst park Kung Fu Kick Bergkamp- scared of flying Im sure there is plenty more feel free to add!!

TrickyTrev Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 As much as I loved him, I don't think he's the best player of all time.I think he could have been one of them, if he hadn't suffered so much from injuries. I don't know who the best player of all time is. I'm 20 years old. I've only seen video clips of the "greats" plus one or two full length matches. It is impossible for me to have a judgement on who was better between Cruyuff, Beckenbauer, Maradonna, Pele, De Stefano, Garrinchia e.t.c We all know how good Kaebi looked on youtube! All I can say is that since I have been watching football obsessively, thats from the mid 90's, Ronaldo circa 97 was the greatest. Buffon, Rui Costa and Zidane would get honourable mentions, perhaps Henry and Bergkamp too.
