MC Prussian Posted 25 February 2008 Posted 25 February 2008 http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/mi...02/post_10.html Quite an interesting read. Is the lack of professionalism within the system the reason why English Youth Academies produce so few really gifted English-born and bred youngsters? Discuss.
purpleronnie Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I think we all know the whole youth system needs to be changed, but its been like that for many many years and it hasnt changed yet. With all the FA's millions we should have the best set up in the world. But they only care about hosting the world cup not winning it.
Joe. Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 It's true, this country doesn't take youth players seriously enough. With all the money in the game these days, clubs don't particularly want to nurture talent when they can buy a "finished product" almost immediately. You'd have thought with England's failures since 1966 the FA would have thought to install some kind of centre of excellence(s) somewhere. It just doesn't make sense to me. Where else is this talent going to come from?
