Time For A Breather

I think this two week break couldn't have come at a better time for the lads really. Thankfully we got a point on friday as there's nothing worse than losing and having to wait 2 weeks to try and make ammends. A win would have been better for us, but I think the players know that a win is not that far away with the way we've been playing. I also think that having 6 home games in April will help us immensly in so many ways. Firstly it will put an end to the myth that we are awful at home, Secondly the fans and players can build a rapport together as we've been apart for a long, long time and Thirdly we don't have to wear that disgusting breeze block kit.

I think the lads have battled extremely well over the past few months, it can't be hard playing away all the while. I don't care what anyone says, our away form will always suffer if you haven't got regular home games to keep momentum going. Our away form has been pretty poor in 2005, but without having that security of having home games to pick yourselves up after a defeat has taken it's toll. We'bve been playing well and losing and playing badly and losing, which has been a right shitter. The good thing is we are playing alot better football and it's slowly but surely starting to pay dividends. Without a few wins though, it will all be fruitless and that's why having a nice 2 week break to work on a few things and getting everyone fit is crucial to us. Also the lads will be raring to go and it's always good when you have players desperate to play football.

We aren't going to go down, but we don't want to scrape through. If we can win most of our remaining home games and pick up the odd point away from home I think we'll end the season comfortable and set ourselves up nicely for a productive summer and a glorious season in 2005-06.

I also think this 2 week break will be a good time for Craig to plan for next season aswell, with all the players out of contract at the end of the season he needs to decide who's staying and who's going. I'm not overly bothered if everyone who is out of contract leaves, don't get me wrong Gillespie and Walker are more than good enough for this league but Levein has his plans and these two have been part of our demise in recent seasons. Gillespie has been a revelation under Levein though and i'm sure he will play in the premiership again before he retires.

I also think it's time Richard Stearman had a run in the team, since Kenton and McCarthy have arrived,Stearman has dropped down the pecking order. But with Dabizas banned for 3 games and Jordan Stewart probably out for the season I think Stearman deserves a good few games in the team. It will give Levein a chance to see exactly whether he's ready for regular first team football. I know he's only young, but there's no point holding him back if he's ready. If you play a player when they are 17/18 and ready, I guarantee that in 2 or 3 years when some players break through, they'll be far more advanced and have the experience that is vital when the going get's tough. I'd like to see him in the centre of defence, but perhaps Paddy and Stearman are too in-experienced as a pairing especially when we need wins fast. But he could slot in at right back if Kenton isn't kept on and Maybury can stay at left back for a while.

I'm looking forward to April, there's nothing better than a flurry of home games and if we get off to a flyer against Millwall then we might well put a late run together, which will be nice. Play-offs are out of the question, but if we can piss on a few fires from now until the end of the season then i'll be a happy man.

Let's hope these Samba Boyz are the business aswell, i've alwasy wanted a Brazilian cult hero at City. Imagine it, ****in imagine it.

Hoof you becoming the thinking mans buddy on here!

My mate on here you have the same thoughts as me!

My thoughts exactly... I said to a pal of mine on friday a draw is good at upton park trust me.... And so It was, improvement on and off the pitch too.

Brazilian ....... christiano junior has been on norfox's lips...

Wasnt julian joachim a brazilian? thats what we used to chant... julians a brazilian...julians a brazilian.... julians a brazilian....

A well earned break and 6 home games 12pts from 18 i rekon. Safely mid table.

Paddy and Stearman thats sounds good to me... maybury (god) kenton on the right and left back positions.

I was thinking that the last time we played millwall we won 4-1 claridge after 14 seconds and then DENNIS WISE whadda ......DENNIS WISE whadda ...... all game

coff coff must start getting my vocal chords in tune..

DENNIS WISE whadda ...... lollol

Bloody good post Hoof! The lads can have a bit of a rest now and if we can get ourselves mathematically safe as soon as - maybe CL can give some fringe/youth lads a try out.

Dabizas is only banned for 1 game isn't he? I thought it was only 3 games for violent conduct.

You might be right! For some reason I thought he was banned for 3 games, i'm sure I read it somewhere. Not that bothered either way, i'd like to see Stearman rightfully given a chance.

That 1 point that Dabizaz earned so to speak (given he saved a sure fire goal) and walks saved it.

This is a one match ban but well worth it i see, the results went our way @ the weekend and the point made all the difference.

Shame about forests draw thou...

If they mean Christiano Junior, the Brazilian striker who played for East Bengal well that's shocking. He died last year!!!!
