Wycombe Fox Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 From the BBC website gossip page; "Sunderland boss Roy Keane has lined up another striker from the Championship - Sheffield United's former England hitman James Beattie. (The Sun)" Former England hitman??? Five appearances and no goals. Hitman??? Granted, he's knocking them in at club level and is a great striker at that level but England hitman...Sun t*ssers. I'm feeling really narky today - nerves for tomorrow's game v Colchester I think.
WetFlannel Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 Portsmouth's England hit man David Nugent. Has a better ring to it.

Nugent scored goals in the championsip consitantly for other a hundred games and both he and Beattie have almost identical goals per game ratios. Both are less than the one in two target for a top striker. Dave Nugent 112 apps. 61 goals avg. 1.83 games per goal James Beattie 36 apps 20 goals avg. 1.8 games per goal Sorry for being a bit geeky but they are pretty much even.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 I'd much rather have Nugent over that fat git Beattie. I genuinely would, it's not just because I'm bitter.

Joe. Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 Well it does say former England man. Which is true But as for the argument, Beattie of Nugent for me. Nugent's not good enough for Premier league football.

You might be a bit wrong there. Nugent scored 33 goals in 83 starts at Preston.
