davieG Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 He was decent against Blackpool but got injured, then got messed about regarding his position (playing in midfield), and was subsequently forced out by Stearman who grabbed his chance with both hands. Things have been tough for him but I said I was disappointed with the signing and I can't say anything has changed my mind. Chambers should only play if Stearman is unavailable. It's a shame we've not had a bit of mid-table mediocrity otherwise we could have blooded/tried Stearman at CB with Chambers at RB.
Thracian Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 He's rubbish at left back. Disco Bob would love that. Concise and spot on.

If we went down I can see that happening, considering the inevitable departures of Kisnorbo and N'Gotty (possibly McAuley too). I'd be quite happy to see it, our central defence is overrated and it is quite clear the likes of Kisnorbo and McAuley are still a bit naive when defending.

So you think Stearman would stay if we went down?
dandannieldanok Posted 16 April 2008 Posted 16 April 2008 So you think Stearman would stay if we went down? I think there is less chance of him handing in a transfer request than the likes of Kisnorbo, N'Gotty and McAuley.
Geo V Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Chambers is one I feel sorry for as he started well at RB under MA and then has been slung around the team from right midfield into the centre and generally all over the shop. Stearman has played well enough when I have seen matches so probably deserves the position but Chambers situation is systematic of whats been happening all season with our side, we are all over the shop.
The Reverend Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 I think there is less chance of him handing in a transfer request than the likes of Kisnorbo, N'Gotty and McAuley. I dont think it'll be anything to do with transfer requests - teams will want to buy Stearman. More than they will want to buy a 45 year old, more than they would want to buy a player whos played in the lower leagues for most of his career, and more than another centre back who has virtually played his career at a lower level.
BigGibbo Posted 17 April 2008 Posted 17 April 2008 Where they normally stick Bruno, playing him in front of the defence. He played in the middle this season and was pretty good. What harm could it do ? Stick with the players we've got and we go down .. Its that simple. Have you seen him try & pass?

Chambers is probably the only player I feel sorry for of the current crop. He was pish in central midfield but against Blackpool he looked like a promising right-back- especially going forward. Not sure he's actually played at right-back too much at all has he?
