Daggers Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 It seizes up, does it? Did I hear right that there's a new one coming out soon? I was in the Apple Shop yesterday, and I kinda liked it...I'm ashamed to say. I may have to get one.
Finchy Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 Don't think there is a new iMac coming out soon, there should be new MacBooks coming soon tho. Don't be ashamed Macs are fantastic.
Babylon Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 The "new" imacs were out on Monday. It was only a speed upgrade though... you now get more for your money basically. It seizes up, does it? Not in my experience.
Daggers Posted 2 May 2008 Author Posted 2 May 2008 Not in my experience. AppleInsider reports that the bug (possibly related to the iMac's ATI Radeon HD graphics circuitry) causes the iMac interface to seize up entirely, forcing users to reboot. Some posters on Apple's discussion forums say that games, iTunes, and other graphically intensive applications tend to freeze their iMacs; others, however, are suffering from random system crashes.Apple has told Macworld that a fix for the iMac freezes is on tap: "We are tracking down the root cause of this bug, and will issue a software update as soon as we can," the spokesperson said. "We apologize for the inconvenience." Let's hope the patch comes sooner rather than later. It was the kids that dragged me in - then the six year old starts messing about with one and made me feel pretty damn old. She made fun of my laptop. I'm not having the piss taken out of me by a six year old girl. Maybe Apple should consider including this aspect in their next marketing campaign?

I use one all day at work and when i'm at home and haven't had any real problems. The odd programme crash. But nothing more than any other computer i've previously used.
Babylon Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRXjP3uiNNo Shame it's complete nonsense.
FilboFox Posted 2 May 2008 Posted 2 May 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRXjP3uiNNo What a load of crap... Mac's are FAR better than PC's! All it needs is for people to realise this and then everything will be released onto the Mac's first!

SamL Posted 3 May 2008 Posted 3 May 2008 You need to differentiate between PC's running Windows and PC's running Linux Linux rules Aye, I like Linux. It has a science fiction sort of feel to it. I use Windows the majority of the time though, better computability with certain things. I have both on my partitioned hard disk.
