Corky Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 To be fair, Mike Bassett got England to the semi-finals and he received a hero's welcome when he came home Seriously though, the Fa are a joke. Basically they are telling the players that 75% is good enough, you don't have to try after that. Hopefully Cappello will ignore this and fire up his players to do better. It's no suprise we never win things with the governing body's attitude and expectations.
davieG Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Without seeing the wording that target sounds a bit lame surely the target is to win it! Or are they saying if he doesn't get to the SFs he'll be sacked. Didn't Sven get scked for taking us that far?
Fox You Forest Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Does anyone else dislike Brian Barwick with a passion?
thecannon Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Not exactly a very confident target, is it? You go into this world cup thinking you can win it!
AyewJoking Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 You get all the old farts moaning when England expect to win things and you get the same old farts moaning when they set a more realistic target. Isnt it the same as saying we must make the semi's at least?

That's how I read the title, what wrong with setting that as a target when we've only reached quarters in the least 3 competitions?
Ultra Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Indeed, and we haven't even qualified for the next tournament. Let's hope Capello can get more out of this bunch of overpaid and underachieving fcukwits..
