Leicester's Defence - What will we do?

I'll say it again. New back 4, Chambers .... Stearman .... Worley .... Mattock.

It's the future!

Mattock and Stearman won't be with us next season.

I doubt McCauley will be either. Forget Kisnorbo, if he doesn't leave in the summer he'll be out for half the season.

Sooo, we need to rebuild the defense almost completely. Which, I think, we'll pretty much have to do with the midfield as well.

The only thing that is going to keep our decent young players at this club is if Milan puts unrealistically high price tags on them.

The probems with the defence (distribution, deep line etc) could & should surley be sorted out by a competent manager.

Ollie should be seeing these things as well & doing something about them on the training ground. We shouldn't have to get rid of any 1 of 4 defensively sound players without trying to coach them out of their failings first. Ollie should be telling them to play higher up & look to pass the ball out of defence to feet. Maybe he is & they are still failing to do so, in which case I would also be in favour of dropping either McAuley or Kisnorbo but if they're just playing the way they've been told to then it is surley down to poor management.

You are rght to a point. However, these players have played for Levein, Kelly, Worthington, Allen, Megson and Holloway and not one of these has been able to sort this out. The exception would be Megson who obviously recognised our real defensive capabilites and structured his sides to account for that. And we all know how much we enjoyed that don't we!

Yet to be proved!

Although if Holloway stays you may well be right!

They, Weso and Hume have the severe hump with the manager so I would not be surprised if they all go if Holloway stays.

However at this time they are still our players.......

I doubt if Ollie will have any say whether they stay or not. That'll be down to the players themselves, their agents and the board.

whilst this is a good thread, and it's reassuring to see that most people realise the grave flaws with our 'great defence', but speculating who will and won't say seems like pissing in the wind until we know what is actually going to happen with holloway...

the thing that is spinning round my head, tho, and this also applies very distinctly to our defence, is this constant reference from milan (and IH singing from the same songsheet) of getting rid of the 'losing mentality' - to me, that mentality is summed up in mccauley and kisnorbo, they have been through so many managers and poor seasons, i remember the criticism aimed at their inefficiency when offered the captaincy, just hearing their names now makes me think of losing.

and i think this is why the thought of bringing in younger players that are used to winning is such a convincing, or at least appealing argument to so many.

The only situation under which Mattock and Stearman will be with us next season is if Milan puts an unreasonable price-tag on them. That, I'm afraid, is the end of the story.

That's the point! Mattock, Hume and Weso all have 'issues' with Holloway and they will want out!

50% of the employed population the world over think that their boss is a twat, that doesn't prove anything (even if it's true ). If these players move it's because ;

a) The club want to cash in.

b) The players need to play in a higher league for the sake of their careers.

c) The players will get a huge payrise.

Maybe, maybe not.

In football if your boss knows you think he is a prat, you often don't get picked to do your job, not usually the case with the rest of the employed population.

And,

a) Cash in by bouncing back to the championship?

b) Sitting on the bench does what for your career?

c) Huge payrise? really? I don't see any of the top clubs looking to sign them.

Still when money talks......... you could well be right..........then again.......

I don't understand how everybody seems to know for certain that half the squad have personal issues with Holloway & want to leave.

It may be that I have missed something but I can't recall seeing any reports of a bust-up between Ollie and any of the players reported anywhere. Ok it might be logical to assume that Hume is unhappy as he has been played everywhere but where he wanted to play over the last season but even he has not come out & said that he will leave if Ollie stays, to my knowledge anyway.

It is highly probable that a fair few 1st team players will leave but surely this is more to do with the fact that the club is in League 1 than the fact that Ollie is manager?
