Uncle Albert Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Class performance by Spain last night. Sergio Ramos, Torres, Iniesta, Xavi, Senna and Silva were all class last night. Arshavin? Who? That was Russia's first real test since they got hammered 4-1 by Spain. People may say they knocked out the Dutch but they were awful, but im sure if someone offered the Russians a semi final place and would lose 3-0 Spain they would of took it.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Spain were class, i thought that Aragones got his tactics spot on, although he should be in "Arandale Residential Home", if you looked at the way he set his team out he really shut off all supply to Arshavin. So Aragones i salute you. Arshavin was very poor, but i dont agree with the huge slating off him, having enjoyed watching him play for a few season's now, the man is class, i am not for one moment saying he is on par with some of the players mentioned!! He was a decent player before big "Dick" came to Zenit, played out of position a lot, even played at right back one game for them!!! Advocat really has got the best out of him, dropping him, really put the fire back in his belly!! It is like all good footballers, if you do not give them the time to play, then it is simple, they wont have a impact on a game. Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka, Ronaldinho!! I have seen games where they have all gone missing, mainly due to the fact that the supply to these players has been cut off!! For me this Tournament has shown some good performances from certain players, but nobody has talked about Marcos Senna, i think he has been a key player for the spanish, if you look at there teams from the past, they never really played with this type of player, he has been outstanding, a un-sung hero if you like, he just does the job!! So for the final, all i will say as i have said all along, only a fool would write the germans off!!!

I'm just saying he doesn't strike me as a "Top Four" player, here or in Spain. He strikes me as incredibly over-rated, something the British media have a real penchant for doing. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he'd have gotten almost no hype at all had England actually been in the tournament. Incidently it was quite nice to see Sychev come on and look amongst the liveliest last night. I'm pretty sure this time four years ago HE was the big thing.

Arshavin will struggle to get into the Barcelona side, but i think at his age he has to go for it now!! Back to ITV, God i hate them, I didn't even know until they done there advertisement yesterday that they have FA Cup next season. I am going to chasetown to sniper, David Pleat!!
