Wycombe Fox Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Did/does anyone on here work there? I worked there between 1980 and 1999 for a builder doing maintenance and new building work. I worked on Block 72, Block 70 and the one that went up in 1997/98 on the big field next to the railway line. Just feeling a bit nostalgic all of a sudden. Oh yeah and does anyone remember the cheese and onion cobs from a grocer's store in Enderbeh, just on the left as you headed down the hill towards EH Smith?
Daggers Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Did/does anyone on here work there? Used to try to get them to use a vacuum deposited vapour-polymer coating on anything they had - no one wanted it, it was too expensive compared to the liquid versions. Always struck me as being a place out of time...in fact anything GEC or Alsthomy did...not like good old Lucas Aerospace - now they really knew how to waste money and increase my monthly bonus!
Wycombe Fox Posted 1 July 2008 Author Posted 1 July 2008 I live in Whestone.Never heard of GEC though. Probably known as Alsthom now
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Probably known as Alsthom now Well it was the last time I went there a few years ago. It's on Cambridge Road (if it's still there) I couldn't remember the name of the road so I went to streetmap.co.uk and entered Dog and Gun Lane (which I knew ran off the road GEC/Alsthom is/was on) and it went straight to the map, no options, ie, Dog and Gun Lane in Whetstone is the only road with that name in the whole country. QI!
AmericanScott Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Ohh right. It's called Alstom/Alstec/BNC My girlfriend work there.
