Guest Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Are you providing half time entertainment with a recreation of Ben Hur then Thrac?

So that's where it comes from. Your named after a Bulgarian wheelbarrow?

What was Barry Hayles like as a player back then?
Corky Posted 7 August 2008 Posted 7 August 2008 Your not doing to bad for 1900 years old. What was Barry Hayles like as a player back then? The fans still dreamt of a team of Barry Hayles
Thracian Posted 8 August 2008 Author Posted 8 August 2008 Are you providing half time entertainment with a recreation of Ben Hur then Thrac? Shame to say I loved that film, still do. Chariot racing must have given a real adrenalin burst - the Grand Prix racing of its day. Damn sight more entertaining for half-time than penalty shoot-outs.

Lillehamring Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Archaeologists have unearthed a 1,900-year-old well-preserved chariot at an ancient Thracian tomb in southeastern Bulgaria, the head of the excavation said Thursday. What a strange thing to say.

Damn sight more entertaining for half-time than penalty shoot-outs. Its not a shame. That film is awesome and one of the most classic films of all time!! Beats most of todays poo that gets released! We need more films with chariots in them! Hooray!
Thracian Posted 9 August 2008 Author Posted 9 August 2008 Its not a shame. That film is awesome and one of the most classic films of all time!!Beats most of todays poo that gets released! We need more films with chariots in them! Hooray! A pal of mine called Frederick Covins wrote a book called The Breaking Sword that had chariots in it. Never quite understood why that's never been turned into a film. It was all about the British tribes' struggle against the occupying Romans. What with the tribal King Caratacus, the warrior queen Boudicca, the mystic powers of the Druids, the chariot battles on the Malvern Hills and the beauty of Coventina it would make for a gripping three hours entertainment. The website's worth a look. There's even mention somewhere of the cricket matches I've referred to on here, the ones when we had cider barrels around the boundary! Lovely man Fred - and his good wife Maggie. Happy days indeed.
