Hayles to Cheltenham

Why only 1 month? Its not like he needs any experience... I guess this is just a way for Pearson to get rid of him for a month whilst finding someone to take him on more permanently... perhaps even a sort of test run for Cheltenham to see if he'd be any good for them... lets hope he does well. :P

To be fair it's not like he's first choice here at the moment, and he'd soon lose match fitness. Better to have Bazza match fit in case we need him than to have him loafing about round here.

And if he does move on permanently then fair play and Barry, we won't forget the effort you showed last season and that wonder goal against Palace

Owusu heads to Robins

Cheltenham Town have agreed a deal to sign Lloyd Owusu from League One rivals Yeovil Town.

Owusu is to move to Whaddon Road on a free transfer after accepting a one-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

He had been out of contract at Yeovil over the summer and had made five appearances so far this season after failing to agree a new deal.

The 31-year-old, who had previously been linked with Millwall, has opted to join Cheltenham, much to manager Keith Downing's delight.

"Lloyd has a good track record and has scored goals at this level," Downing told the club's official website.

"He's got great experience, strength and presence and can lead the forward line. He is different to what we have already in terms of his height and strength and will give us that extra firepower.

"We've had a few setbacks with players we've tried to sign over the last few weeks, but Lloyd wanted to come to Cheltenham and continue his career with us."

Meanwhile, Leicester striker Barry Hayles has turned down the chance of a six-month loan at Cheltenham and will have his current arrangement assessed on a monthly basis.

Downing added: "Barry is happy with us, but his personal circumstances mean that he is unable to commit to a long-term loan."
