no his prison sentence was for the same offence, I know it's confusing as he's had many of them, he was convicted and sent to prison for the assault on Dabo so he has now been punished twice for the same thing that just makes me a little uncomfortable

No it wasn't, it was for assulting a guy outside McDonalds in the early hours of the morning.

Barton is indefensible.

An acquaintance of mine got sacked from the bin lorries of a local council for what can only be described as the most minor assault. First and only offence too.

Barton is a serial offender, the assaults are anything but minor and he keeps his job. There must be so much shit in football it has to look after it's own.

Yes, but in any of those cases have the victims pressed charges and the perpetrator been found guilty? Not that I can think of. However in the Barton case Dabo did press charges, Barton was found guilty by the law, and so the FA has acted upon it (although personally I think they should just leave it to the Police). If any other players have successfully pressed charges then I'd agree with your point.
