jonno24 Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Ok so there i was playing footy with my mates on the park when all of a sudden i just crumple onto the floor in pain The pain which was on the side of my right leg near my hip was quite possibly the worst pain i have ever felt and ive done the lot Broken leg,Broken Arm,Collapsed Lung,Paper Cut etc etc. Then as quickly as it had happened the pain went away that was until yesterday morning when i woke up and couldnt feel my upper leg and immediately rang the doctors to make an appointment. He said that it was just a bump and would bruise over. but today i have been in pain all day and i havnt got any bruise in that area and im getting worried now as it is getting worse and worse. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as i am shitscared of hospitals and really dont wanna have to go to one ?
BigGibbo Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Ring NHS direct on 0845 46 47 tell them all about it & stress that you're not happy with the doctors diagnoses for whatever reasons! Then see what they think? There usually good I've used them before.
Nationwider Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Trapped nerve or blood clot? Get the hell to A&E and get it looked at. Better to feel stupid if it IS a bump, than feel stupid if something goes badly wrong and you didn't act quickly.
Guest Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 I had something similar the other week, woke up in blinding pain and ended up in A&E at 3am in the morning. They were worried about appendicitis/hernia. They said that with appendicitis the pain would continue for hours/couple of days and cause severe nausea, and they did ask me if i'd done any more weights/exercise than normal (which I assume meant they were worried about a hernia). I'd definitely get yourself down the hospital mate if the pain continues. Better safe than sorry like
Samilktray Posted 3 October 2008 Posted 3 October 2008 Sounds similar to some bloke I spoke to whilst at QMC a few weeks back. Similar circumstances, and he ended up waking up 1 morning without the ability to move 1 leg. Not to scare you, just to make sure you go to A&E.
jonno24 Posted 3 October 2008 Author Posted 3 October 2008 think ill ring nhs direct first and see if they suggest goin hospital its been doin my head in all day and specially driving has been a git and sitting down in meetings all day pretending to be interested.
jonno24 Posted 4 October 2008 Author Posted 4 October 2008 well i phoned NHS direct and told them my symptoms and they suggested i go to the hospital and try to eliminate the serious things it could be so i did and have just got back. apparently ive got lumbar radiculapathy ( Pinched nerve in lower back which causes pain in the thigh ) I was told to take a week off work and ive got to have the missus rub my lower back when i get up and before i go to bed. glad it aint as serious as i thaught it could be

Here lies another reason you shouldn't trust a regular doctor or GP!
