davieG Posted 13 November 2008 Author Posted 13 November 2008 That has brought a tear to my eye! What a day, what a match! Not a Tommy Johnson type tear though
Zingari Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 This could help. i don't need psycho the rapist thanks
Guest Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 Not a Tommy Johnson type tear though I thought Pembridge looked funnier!
Alexikokopops Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I can't help but think of the glory Ormondroyd would've been destined for if that header had gone in rather than rebounding to Walsh
Porky Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I was only 7 when this match took place, so not too many memories for me. I think I was watching with the family, but I don't remember now. However, I can just imagine the electric atmosphere when the final whistle went after two successive play-off final defeats. The relief that they'd finally made it to the top of football. Awesome to watch, and thanks for sharing. Sorry to sound silly, but is the other commentator Kevin Keegan? Sounds awfully like him to me anyway.
Zingari Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I can't help but think of the glory Ormondroyd would've been destined for if that header had gone in rather than rebounding to Walsh on such miniscule events our lives do hinge . well, that and on other things like walshy being a lot better player
Guest Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I can't help but think of the glory Ormondroyd would've been destined for if that header had gone in rather than rebounding to Walsh I really hated Alan Parry calling him "Ormonroyd". It's not a silent "d", you tosser!
Alexikokopops Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 Sorry to sound silly, but is the other commentator Kevin Keegan? Sounds awfully like him to me anyway. If I remember correctly from my DVD of the match then it is (I haven't got sound on at work so can't listen again now to refresh my memory) on such miniscule events our lives do hinge . well, that and on other things like walshy being a lot better player A bold claim Zingari, but Ormondroyd's record of 1 goal every 11 games (in the league) is a formidable one indeed! I really hated Alan Parry calling him "Ormonroyd". It's not a silent "d", you tosser! I KNOW! It angered me, FACT
Zingari Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 i'm pretty sure i called him worse things than a slight mispronunciation of his name mostly something along the lines of , lanky useless streak of piss
Corky Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I really hated Alan Parry calling him "Ormonroyd". It's not a silent "d", you tosser! I know, but it didn't take away the joy of when Stevie Wash scored did it?
Guest Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 I know, but it didn't take away the joy of when Stevie Wash scored did it? To be fair, I wasn't listening to Alan Parry at the time!
Corky Posted 13 November 2008 Posted 13 November 2008 To be fair, I wasn't listening to Alan Parry at the time! I bet you were being hugged by some random bloke
Mickey O'Neil Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 Cheers for that Davie, really made me smile I was always a bit of a secret Tommy Johnson fan
Mickey O'Neil Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 A bold claim Zingari, but Ormondroyd's record of 1 goal every 11 games (in the league) is a formidable one indeed! Anyone remember Watford away...Ormondroyd's looping goal? Quality!
Ibbyfox Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 I bet you were being hugged by some random bloke I remember I was!! Great memory of that day was driving back up the M1 and all the people on the motorway bridges waving City flags and scarves when we got back into Leicestershire - felt like Royalty. Happy memories .......................
Guest Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 I bet you were being hugged by some random bloke Several, to be honest.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 Beautiful. Think we lined up in a 5-2-3 that day with the Droyd, Walsh and Roberts as a possibly the tallest combined strike force ever! Good work by Big Iwan on the keeper for our first goal.
Guest Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 Beautiful. Think we lined up in a 5-2-3 that day with the Droyd, Walsh and Roberts as a possibly the tallest combined strike force ever! Good work by Big Iwan on the keeper for our first goal. But what was Paul Williams doing on the line!
Bazaldo Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 Anyone remember Watford away...Ormondroyd's looping goal? Quality! Might aswell join in, anyone at Ipswich away when sticks went clean through bearing down on goal running towards us at full pelt!!! gets to the edge of the area, City fans going mental cheering him on "go on!!!" then he treads on the ball and the whole pen just burst out laughing and gave him a massive round of applause and chanting his name.......Brilliant!! think we drew 2-2 that day.
Corky Posted 14 November 2008 Posted 14 November 2008 But what was Paul Williams doing on the line! "I've never seen that before Alan, you could almost call in a missed header"
