Finnegan Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Anyone got a decent idea where I can get my laptop repaired? I'm a little hesitant to go to PC World as I'm told they charge a pretty extortionate fixed rate and I know that the only problem with my machine is the power cable socket on the side is fooked. I've read both £69 (for PCs) and £220 (for Laptops?) from PC World websites via Google searched and both seem a little OTT. The £70 I can stomach if that's actually available for notebooks. Doesn't DB11 work for a company that fixes computers?
Daggers Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I'm a little hesitant to go to PC World Hmm - dodgy porn eh?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 My power socket has also gone on my laptop. It's one of those posh HP laptops with an over-extravagant socket, not the simple pin-in-the-middle type. Anyway, I emailed [email protected] (he's in Leicester). Quoted me £50. I can't find the bloody email now though.
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 Yeah that's my laptop, too. With the circular, blue, three-stage light that lets you know how much power it's getting, etc?
Mickey O'Neil Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 That's the fella. ZD8000 series. I emailed him & told him it was that type, not the simple pin type. It was defo around the £50 mark. I've just not got around to it yet though
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 The laptop to me is like a mobile to a chav tart. I cannot live without it, haha. Taking it up PC World today and hopefully it's just a solder job they can do in store.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Let me know how you get on please, I might go PCW
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2008 Author Posted 22 December 2008 PCW can fucking sit on their £230 fixed charge. Mayes want £150. I've a contact for a guy in Birstall and one in Loughborough. Can you find the number for the bloke in Leicester that quoted you £50?
Santa_Claus Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Ho Ho Ho. This year I give SosbanFach the gift of a link to PC World's laptop department To SosbanFach From Santa_Claus
Mickey O'Neil Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 Sorry Sosbanfach, just found your Q. I pi$$ed about with my phone this morning and deleted all my contacts! They are on my laptop!! Wiggled the power cable like buggery for the last hour...no joy today! Anyway, the fella that quoted me somewhere around the £50 mark, can be contacted via his website HERE. I have deleted his bloody email by mistake & I can't find the quote, I have sent him a new request today. I also found someone in Oadby who repairs, I have asked for a quote from him as well. He is here
DB11 Posted 30 December 2008 Posted 30 December 2008 I work for these. Yes the web site is very shit (has better things to do.... like fixing computers than updating the web site! ) but I am linking you because it has the contact details on.
