Katy Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Bikes don't have number plates on the front Think that might be it. Righty, what about the cameras that are backward facing though? (I don't know why I'm so interested, I don't have a motorbike or have any intention of getting one)
JoeyB Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Righty, what about the cameras that are backward facing though? (I don't know why I'm so interested, I don't have a motorbike or have any intention of getting one) Don't know about that one, just know that if your going down the M1 all the camera's are forwrd faceing. Daggers told me.
JakeShingler Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 I take no notice and have never been done apart from a short stretch round here somewhere, I just use cruise control and do something even more irresponsible to pass the time, like reading a book, having a wa nk or weaving randomly between lanes with my foggies on.
Munzie Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Isn't there some daft law that makes speed cameras not detect bikes or something? Or did I dream that? Bike can be detected. I know . The only ones we are immune from is the forward facing ones. Righty, what about the cameras that are backward facing though? (I don't know why I'm so interested, I don't have a motorbike or have any intention of getting one) See motorbikes are brilliant thread. Then you'll want one! I wish it was summer. There's nothing like a ride on a bike (except when a big brown envelope drops though my letterbox containing a black & white image of me on my bike accompanied by a fixed penalty notice!)

Nooooo, the leathers really chaff
Munzie Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Nooooo, the leathers really chaff They only chaff if they don't fit properly. You need a good experience on bikes and you'll be converted.
Katy Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 They only chaff if they don't fit properly. You need a good experience on bikes and you'll be converted. Ooerr, I'll have to upgrade from experiences in cars then
Munzie Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Ooerr, I'll have to upgrade from experiences in cars then Although a little more difficult and a tad less private, it can be done!! As I said, motorbikes are brilliant!
The People's Hero Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 There's a bit round me where there is no camera or whatever gigginz yeah whatever yeah? But there is a thing wot tells you how fast you're going. In what way does that encourage you to slow down?
Katy Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Although a little more difficult and a tad less private, it can be done!!As I said, motorbikes are brilliant! Hmmm, I'm still not convinced. There's a bit round me where there is no camera or whatever gigginz yeah whatever yeah? But there is a thing wot tells you how fast you're going. In what way does that encourage you to slow down? There's one of those near me just on the Northamptonshire/Cambridgeshire border. It scares the crap out of you when driving at night as it just pops up at you. I think it just scares you into slowing down.

Once you know where it is though, you can go for your PB. ... and by PB I mean Personal Best, not Period Blood.
dandannieldanok Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Just wondered because more and more vehicles seem to fly through them at various locations on my travels. Couldn't help but wonder whether they are just old lamposts painted yellow with Cornflake boxes hung from them. For some strange reason, many speed cameras simply don't have film in them therefore are practically just yellow lampposts.
Guest Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 If he's got a clean license and seems genuinely sorry in front of the magistrate he may be OK, I was caught at 103.2mph (slowing down) on the M18 a while back (going to watch City play Newcastle in the Prem so you can guess a few years) and got off with 6 points and no ban, £350 fine was a bit of a pain. A good solicitor could probably find a proceedural error and get him off scot free. You did look very humble, to be fair. Even I wouldn't have the heart to ban you.
Daggers Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 All average speed cameras are forward facing and therefore bikes don't have to give a flying stuff about this kind of crap. Normal speed cameras are a different kettle of fish...
cisono Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 I just try to pick some guy who looks as if he can do no wrong and stay behind him, they are painfully annoying though, the M1 North of Leicester is currently littered with them and also bewteen Luton and London. Annoying as fook. How much north of Leicester? (ie what junctions)
Alexikokopops Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 How much north of Leicester? (ie what junctions) I'm guessing he's referring to this
JoeyB Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 How much north of Leicester? (ie what junctions) 25 derby to about 28/29 mansfield.

You'll never be able to push that bike at over 30 mph so there's no reason for you to worry
JoeyB Posted 6 March 2009 Posted 6 March 2009 You'll never be able to push that bike at over 30 mph so there's no reason for you to worry Or he will. but he'll have a long treck back after to pick up all the bits that have fallen off.
