Finnegan Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 How dare they!? Damn egg chasers using our footballing grounds, ruining our pitches, moving our fixtures and.. er... giving us money!
Finnegan Posted 21 April 2009 Author Posted 21 April 2009 Jesus that's a good move in terms of PR. A bit more seriously, does anyone know how bad Stockport's troubles are? They've got to be seriously in trouble if they can't even afford to pay their plod bills.

I think you answer your own question there. Nice gesture by Sale though, especially after they've just been fined £5k too.
Finnegan Posted 21 April 2009 Author Posted 21 April 2009 I think you answer your own question there. Sure but I'm massively uninformed and purely guessing. Just wondering if anyone's a little bit more informed? I took a glance at their stub on the BBC but there was no further mention of financial problems.

I took a glance at their stub on the BBC but there was no further mention of financial problems. There's certainly a lot of shit going on behind the scenes there. When Gannon was in talks with Brighton, he said his position had become "unattainable". At the time Stockport were looking good for a decent play off push, and then the wheels seemed to fall off. It's clear that they're massively in the shit, but as to how much, I'd imagine only the people at the top there would know.
Joe. Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 They're one of the only clubs in England to be owned entirely by the fans, so as you can imagine they don't particularly have one main source of income. I know some of Stockport's fans haven't been happy with the way that the club's been run, so I'd imagine whoever that is is partly to blame for it all.
Sods Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 Stockport were struggling big time, probably still are. Think i read somewhere they were going to have huge problems next season because of the state they are in. Its shocking that teams don't get help, fair play to Sale.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 21 April 2009 Posted 21 April 2009 I remember something about them being robbed aswell the day after we played them, I think several thousand pounds was stolen. Probably won't have too much of a bearing on whatever financial difficulty they've got themselves into but as they say, every little helps. Hope they get out of it.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 Stockport was a fairly decent away day this season. Hope they're fine for next year. G'wan boys.
lcfc_jme Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 Though tbh if the Tiggers provided a charitable donation like this, I'd still despise the patronising c*nts anyway.
Lillehamring Posted 22 April 2009 Posted 22 April 2009 on a related issue, i thought the pitch looked pretty good after the bath game (apart from the markings) - especially when you consider how awful it was last season...
